RE: [WISPA] rita damage

2005-09-25 Thread Rick Smith

Just heard from Johnny (Mr. O). He's had a lot of cat-5 pulled out of
routerboards, etc up towers.

They're running around tomorrow climbing / assessing / pulling EQ.

I think he's got a main connection, still, but he's not sure for how long...
Water's contaminated, roads are flooded, lots of roofs gone...

More later when I can hook up with him again.

Cool. Who knows where things will really end up.

What's the gps location for where you'd want people/things if it comes
to that? Probably address too.

OK, so we should plan on being able to stage people and stuff there?

30 miles might be close enough that you'll have no water or power or
much of
anything else if the gusts keep topping 200mph.

Who's got alternate locations?

Also, for any potential staging areas how about some gps coordinates?
I'm
guessing streets will be hard to find.

What's the gps location for where you'd want people/things if it comes to

2005-09-22 Thread John Scrivner
There are about 100 or so unrelated group efforts (none any more
powerful or better than the other) all doing fine in bringing immediate
access to technology and communications without having Part-15 speak for
them in the gulf area and without any firm structural centralized
management so it really does not make any difference to me one way or
the other whether Part-15 is involved in this with us or not. I think
Part-15 is doing really good things. I know we are too. That does not
mean we have to answer to them for every step or run anything past them
before we act. Nor does it mean I have issues working with them directly
on helping. I applaud their efforts along with the other 99 or so
groups helping out down there. If it helps then do it.

Long story shortif you want to mesh with Part-15 then go right
ahead. I am not telling you or anyone else what to do to help. We are
all adults and can help however, whenever, with whoever we see fit. As
long as you are helping then that is good.

Grin. I think we were talking about sending
the DATA to the existing servers. I've got two sites, one with 10 megs one
with 100 meg feed.

Are you close enough that people can bring servers
to you on their way out of the area?

my new datacenter :) Got a 15 meg feed here, mostly unused in both
