Re: [WSG] Safari support for border-collapse?
Hi James, I've just been playing around with this on Konqueror and it doesn't seem to be supported. I'm writing a bit of a tutorial on the two border models for tables and when I am finished it I will post it online and submit some bug reports to kde to see if we can get it supported. If you find a workaround I'll be interested to see it but I suspect we'll have to wait until at least safari 1.2 or kde 3.3. Any idea if there is a bugzilla or similar for safari? Re: [WSG] Safari support for border-collapse?
Further to this I found this in the kde bugzilla http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=45570#c8 /2003-10-30 18:10 --- / Safari has been recently added support for border-collapse. So khtml will eventually support it, too (but not for 3.2). I can't find any available info on what version of Safari this will be included in. RE: [WSG] Re: Image float and text wrap
Thanks, that achieves the effect I'm after, but The reason I wanted to do it was because the image and the text both linked to the same URL with an a tag each (in separate cells of a table). I wanted to combine them so they were both wrapped in the one a tag, but when the a tag is wrapped around both div's clicking the image doesn't open the URL. So the solution defeats its own purpose :( Any ideas? -Original Message- From: James Ellis [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] Sent: Thursday, November 13, 2003 10:52 AM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: [WSG] Re: Image float and text wrap Miles : Put your text in in a block set its margin-left to x pixels (.eg 170) should be wider than the image (.eg 160).. RE: [WSG] Re: Image float and text wrap
Hi Miles, There are several ways of accomplishing this. Here are three different ways I've done: content (multiple block elements) floated right, image floated left. http://www.mxdu.com/ image (accommodates variable width) floated left, content floated left - inline styles. http://www.brendansisson.com/ image floated left, content floated left. http://www.leyland.com.au/ All use clear to stop things going whack when there's insufficient content. This email is to be read subject to the disclaimer below. Miles, Try using something like Eric Meyer's absolutely positioned image trick: http://www.meyerweb.com/eric/css/edge/popups/demo.html and http://www.meyerweb.com/eric/css/edge/popups/demo2.html -- these use absolute positioning to take a span or an image out of the normal document flow and position it somewhere else. You could use this trick to move your image to the left of the content and the hover effect should still work. This email is to be read subject to the disclaimer below. Hi Miles, You might need to use a span instead of a div and redefine it to be block level using display: block. I haven't tested this but as far as I can remember the HTML spec does not allow block level elements inside an anchor (a) tag. RE: [WSG] html encryption tool
Does anyone know how this would work? It encrypts the source code so you can view it but it is encrypted. It doesn't. It makes it slightly harder to view source by encrypting (very much in inverted commas) the data. However the entire encryption decryption mechanism is sent to the user as javascript so anyone with the time or inclination could reverse engineer it. This is either the stupidest concept I have ever see in my life or the one of the best jokes around (they must be Irish (sorry Mark L)). Not only is it completely pointless but it completely breaks any concept of accessibility standards compliance. Turn off javascript and you get a blank page.. Why anyone would want to encrypt html or css is beyond me + half their listed key benefits are complete misrepresentations (lies). dumb, dumb, dumb, dumb Cheers Mark -- Mark Stanton Technical Director Gruden Pty Ltd Tel: 9956 6388 Mob: 0410 458 201 Fax: 9956 8433 http://www.gruden.com * The discussion list for http://webstandardsgroup.org/ *
