Thank you for your answer Bill,
That's all clear for me.
We will try jt9 fast mode.

Hi David,

the tone spacing adjustment is only on transmit and is designed to
accommodate transmitters that divide the modulated RF to make the
transmitted signal, usually to make transmissions on the lower LF bands.
They would normally use hetrodyne mixing to up-convert before the IF
receiver so no tone spacing adjustment is needed there.

Have you considered experimenting with one of the JT9 fast modes or even
MSK144 if you want a block encoded mode like FT8 or even ISCAT for a
stream encoded mode that can work well with complex and variable
propagation paths like aircraft scatter.

Greetings,

I didn't realize that the Enable TX should stop after each QSO.
Apparently it does in V2.0.0-rc1.  However, tonight I am back running
V.1.9.1.  I have made 5 QSOs in a row on 160m with out having to do
anything other than select TX6 CQ after each QSO--the ENABLE TX glows
red all the time just fine.  I am that good! I guess I broke the
software! I don't see a problem, however.

You were in FT8 mode right?   It has been the default since the beginning.

"An automated QSO machine" I'm not even sure what that means I guess.
The software user still has to perform functions to get things to
dance.  If there is a problem with user abuse of the software limiting
the software/user interface isn't the solution IMHO.

By an automated QSO machine it means that the program does everything
without human intervention.    You can turn off the 'Log QSO' and the
program would save all the QSOs to its log, and then all the 'operator'
would have to do is import that log to LoTW and get credit for 'contacts'.

Another HAM in my region suggested a potential abuse of the DXpedition
mode that I hadn't considered.  DXpedition is on say 30m and it is
after midnight local time.  HAM starts calling the DX and goes off to
bed.  Wakes up fresh in the morning and sees DXpedition in his log.
This could be a "problem".

Can't happen as there's a built-in watchdog timer that forces the user
to again "Enable Tx".

If I am sitting in the chair, interacting via the interface screen
(could be tested for) then don't turn the ENABLE TX button off after
each QSO.

How do you prove you're always in front of the computer?   Clicking
Enable Tx after you click OK to Log, takes a second or less and insures
that someone is in front of the scren.

My biggest interest is using WSJT-X and my stations equipment to make
contacts over circuits that are on "dead" bands, or where my antenna
is a compromise, etc.

Thanks to the WSJT-X team for their efforts.

2018-09-23 Thread Neil Zampella
Um ... I don't remember JT65 or JT9 having any auto-sequence setup in
WSJT-X.   They are both 42/46 second Tx cycles, plenty of time to
dbl-click on a decode.

Could they please be reinstated for JT modes ?

[wsjt-devel] Using Multiple configuration

2018-09-23 Thread Alessandro Gorobey via wsjt-devel

Hi All,

I run the calibration cycle on my radio without problems, but using
multiple configuration only the my "FREQ-CAL" is updated.

I can import/export single or multiple frequencies, but not the
calibration data.

I stopped the program and edit the ini file with a text editor.

Old fmt version included in wspr write a fcal.out file with the two
values needed.

Can be a idea?

Thanks for your report. Unfortunately you give no examples of false

Please follow these instructions in Quick-Start Guide to WSJT-X 2.0

"Remember that the most useful bug reports include a concise description

Had that other ham read the documentation that goes along with the DXPedition
Mode, he would realize that for “Hounds,” the transmit cycles is automatically
disabled after a few cycles no matter what the operator selects as options.

Re: [wsjt-devel] Missing Auto Seq and Call 1st in JT9 & JT56 in wsjtx-2.0.0-rc1-win32

2018-09-23 Thread charlie
Hi Justin

As far as I can see, autosequence operation with JT4, JT65 and QRA64 is
the same with 2.0 as it was with 1.9 (at least the check box to select it
is present). I have not yet had the opportunity to test its operation on
air.

As well as FT8, it was available in 1.9 for JT4, JT65 and QRA64. The user
guide (section 7.3) also notes that it is available for JT9 but it does
not seem to be on my build of 1.9.1, so I am not sure about that.

Autosequencing was added to the above slow modes to assist in high
workload situations such as EME, and for this reason only works when
VHF/UHF/Microwave features is checked.
