Hi Joe, This morning I checked the DMG download on 12.0.1 and also 12.1 on an Intel MacBook Pro. There were no problems. I currently use 11.6.1. I have received reports of DMG download for 10.13 through 10.15; 11.6.1 and 12, so if you wish to re-do the earlier change on your web-site: "Version 2.5.3 for macOS 10.13 through 12” this should avoid queries about whether the download would work for 12.1. It must be stressed that these reports refer only to confirmation that the wsjtx-2.5.3-Darwin.dmg unpacks and installs correctly on Intel Macs as well as M1 Macs with Rosetta, but do not make statements about matters relating to WSJT-X 2.5.3 code. In the early days of Bill’s involvement with WSJT he often logged into my Macs at home to test his software modifications on a Mac until he got a VM working. He and I had numerous discussions while testing new versions on various Mac OS. He was generous with his time in helping folks with problems either running the codes or attempting to build the software on various platforms. The multitude of emails to the development list is a tribute to his commitment to ensure that the various programs operated flawlessly. Hi Mike, This is a report using wsjtx-2.5.0-rc6; MacOS Catalina 10.15.7; Using Kenwood TS-870s a thread with kenwood-set-vfo crashes when configuring the Radio panel; pressing CAT will cause a crash, also just selecting rig for Split. Occasionally kenwood-open is shown in the failing thread. 1. I have compiled my own version on 2.5.0-rc6 and the same fault is present. This is using hamlib 4.4 same as official 2.5.0-rc6 release. 2. Then recompiled hamlib 4.2 and remade my version of 2.5.0. No crashes occur and the code is working correctly so I have to conclude that there is a Kenwood problem with hamlib 4.4 Testing with FT8 on 20m. Hi Bill, Further to the WSJT-X + Big Sur + M1 problem, three conclusions have been reached following tests with my correspondent: 1. The M1 page size is 4k and not 16k 2. It seems that the M1 version of Big Sur does not get the shared memory information from /etc/sysctl.conf 3. If kern.sysv.shmmax and kern.sysv.shmall are directly written to via terminal commands (104857600 and 25600 respectively) then WSJT-X loads and runs. The snag here is that these kern.sysv values do not survive a reboot - although this has to be tested. Next step is to find out how to set the shared memory configuration in a permanent way. Re: [wsjt-devel] WSJT-X 2.2.0-rc1 - Hamlib NET rigctl no longer works
Hi Bill, I can confirm that rigctld embedded in 2.2.0-rc1 works as expected. The only slight glitch is that rig numbers have changed. Whereas Kenwood TS-870s and TS-790 used to be rigs: 210 and 207 respectively, riglist has been changed so that these are rigs 2010 and 2007 respectively. Hi Bill, I could not duplicate the Font problem reported by Chuck WV8A. Also tested Decode Text Font and this responded as expected. Re: [wsjt-devel] USB-D on VFOB
This extract from the User Guide Section 4.2 might help to explain why Split mode is useful: --- Split Operation: Significant advantages result from using Split mode (separate VFOs for Rx and Tx) if your radio supports it. If it does not, WSJT-X can emulate such behavior. Either method will result in a cleaner transmitted signal, by keeping the Tx audio always in the range 1500 to 2000 Hz so that audio harmonics cannot pass through the Tx sideband filter. Select Rig to use the radio’s Split mode, or Fake It to have WSJT-X adjust the VFO frequency as needed, when T/R switching occurs. Choose None if you do not wish to use split operation. — — John G4KLA smime.p7s Description: S/MIME cryptographic signature ___ wsjt-devel mailing list wsjt-devel@lists.sourceforge.net https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/wsjt-devel

Hi Bill, Another report from 10.12.6 along with 10.11.6: > At line 2 of file /Users/bill/wsjtx-prefix/src/lib/hspec.f90 > Fortran runtime error: Actual string length is shorter than the > declared one for dummy argument 'mycall' (-4294967284/12) This refers to your comment to Steve: — it looks like there's a common thread emerging with strings passed between C++ and Fortran. I squashed one of these before the release but it seems there are others. I think it is related to a Fortran compiler upgrade on my build machine. The problem is almost certainly that some of our code is using techniques for passing C strings to Fortran that are not guaranteed to be well defined and the later versions of gfortran are not assuming that those techniques should work. I do have a background branch in progress to move all C++/Fortran boundary crossing code to more robust use of ISO_C_BINDING, I guess that will have to be promoted to a higher priority. — The work-around concerning LoTW does not cure this Fortran problem. — John G4KLA smime.p7s Description: S/MIME cryptographic signature ___ wsjt-devel mailing list wsjt-devel@lists.sourceforge.net https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/wsjt-devel

Re: [wsjt-devel] Does the FT8 signal spike at the beginning of each transmission?
Ed, I use "Hamlib NET Rigctl” as rig on my station. (I use a Kenwood TS-870s.) And then run rigctld-wsjtx in the background to do the rig control from my Mac. This way I can also control the rig’s RF Power Level from another computer.
