Yes, and I've found that I'm often decoded starting 3-5 seconds late!

Hi Bobby,

When in the NORMAL decode mode and band is busy (35 to 50+) the
decode indicator flashes 3 times and the last is several seconds (up
to 5) into next time slot. Does this affect the number of decodes in
the Band Activity window?

The three flashes you mention occur at roughly these times into the
FT8 receive sequence:

11.8 s: Attempt to decode many of the stronger signals, even before
their transmissions are finished.

13.6 s: Main decoding pass. Subtract signals from all previous decodes
from the received data stream.  Decode all possible remaining signals.

15.0 s: Subtract signals from all decodes in Pass 2.  Make a final
decoding attempt on what's left, with particular attention to signals
that might be another transmission from a station on that frequency
two sequences ago.

In all passes, attention is focused first on your selected Rx audio
frequency, then on all other frequencies displayed in the waterfall,
from bottom up.

Hi Bill,
I will quote an email passage from Reino OH3M
"there are three dimensions that affect to the decoding probability of two
signals on the same frequency slot. Everybody knows signal strength and
frequency difference, but also time difference has a strong effect. A time
difference of more than a symbol length 160 ms may be enough even, when signal
strengths are the same and there is no frequency difference."
It is amazing. Look at the screen shot at the DT and SNR values of the two
other stations.
You also have a duplicated decode look at the 2  "KP3WR K3RW FN00" decodes both
occurring at 0115 in the display.

[wsjt-devel] decodes of old cycle falsely detected/reported as from new band

2020-02-20 Thread Bobby Chandler
Uwe I guess I misunderstood your problem. I thought the colors
indicating needed calls etc were not correct after a band change. The
adi file should be read when WSJTX starts, but at times I have had to
rescan, for some reason, the file to make the colors respond to the
needed calls etc. Sorry if I misunderstood.
