Hi All,

apologies for the cross-posting.

Due to some recent Hamlib updates to resolve long standing issues with
band changing on modern Yaesu rigs it has become necessary to do some
urgent tests to verify correct behaviour. This concerns the following
rigs and their variants:

FT-450
FT-891

FT-991
FT-2000
FTdx1200
FTdx3000
FTdx5000
FTdx9000
FTdx101
FTdx10

I am looking for owners of one of these rigs who are willing to run a
short test to gather diagnostics to verify correct Hamlib behaviour.
It will require downloading and installing a test version of WSJT-X
and running a short test plan, then sending back a log file. It should
only take about 30 minutes to complete. If the test passes that will
be all, if there are failures there will be an opportunity to help
with further tests to help with fixing any defects found.

The urgency is because I want to complete this exercise on as many of
the above rig models before the imminent General Availability (GA)
release of WSJT-X v2.3.0. Without this verification we will not be
able to ship with the latest Hamlib library code, which means many
recent defect repairs and support for new rigs will not be available.

Thanks in advance.

Hi All,

apologies for the cross-posting.

Due to some recent Hamlib updates to resolve long standing issues with
band changing on modern Yaesu rigs it has become necessary to do some
urgent tests to verify correct behaviour. This concerns the following
rigs and their variants:

FT-450
FT-891
FT-950
FT-991
FT-2000
FTdx1200
FTdx3000
FTdx5000
FTdx9000
FTdx101

I currently have access to to an FT-2000 so that one is already dealt
with.

Thanks in advance.

2020-05-11 Thread Neil Zampella

Hi all,

just a heads up that when I tried to run the setup of v2.2.0-RC1, AVG
did not recognize it as valid, and automatically submitted it to AVG for
analysis.   Once its analyzed AVG will allow installation.

Takes about 5 or 10 minutes but once done, won't happen again. Notice,
it did not just delete the file, and give a bunch of cryptic warnings

Re: [wsjt-devel] fyi ubuntu 18.04LTS

2018-05-11 Thread Greg Beam
Hello All,

In isolation, this approach may produce the desired results. However, it
violates concern separation and could break other applications that have
specific library dependencies. This is especially true at the system level.
User-Space library linking would be another topic entirely.

For Debian/Ubuntu based systems, a much better approach would be to use the
Debian Control File (DCF)--which is designed specifically for this type of
problem--to stipulate both the build and runtime dependencies for the
application in question.

Additionally, building the application locally will fail at some point. It
is not a matter of "if", rather, it is "when". Debootstrap is but one tool
users can employ to overt problems of this nature. Using Debootstrap, the
builder completely removes any locally installed libraries and deploys only
those stipulated in the DCF.

Nearly all distributed Ubuntu packages are built using a clean build
environment targeted against distribution revision coupled to an
architecture; e.g. (bionic-xyx-amd64.iso), where"xyz" can take the form of
Server, Desktop, and so on.

As with most all things Linux, there are many ways to skin the fish. While
some methods work, I would be hard-pressed to state manually linking is a
preferred option, or one I use most often.

Hi Mike and all,

I've often added a symbolic link in the /lib or the /usr/lib directories
from a later library to, the one needed.
In Ubuntu 18.04 LTS, we have libreadline5 and libreadline7 but not
libreadline6.
eg.
cd /lib; ln -s libreadline.so.7.1 libreadline.so.6

Then refresh the library cache if needed. ldconfig

This often fixes a running program's issues but on installation, the Package
Manager may require an entry in the package database. Unpack the .deb file
with "ar x .deb" then unpack the main archive and install the files
manually.

Have fun.

Not sure if anyone noticed. Libreadline6 is NOT in the 18.04 repos at
all. unknown if it will ever be. work around seems to be installing the
libreadline6 package from artful repo
https://packages.ubuntu.com/artful/libreadline6

just wanted to say something in case this was overlooked.

[wsjt-devel] FYI: Minnesota QSO Party and FT8

2018-02-06 Thread Brian Moran
The Minnesota QSO Party folks added FT8 for their event which occurred last
weekend. I asked Mark, WA0MHJ, how that turned out:

Hello Brian,

Well this is still an on-going experiment.

I have processed through 170 entrants so far. In those 170, we have 22 who
have also sent ADIF files for FT-8 contacts. Two of the 22 are
non-Minnesota stations, who both made the minimum requirements for bonus
points. When all of the logs are in, I will tally the total number of
participants and QSO’s made.

Because of the difficulty in modifying exchanges in WSJT-X (i.e. not
sending county or section), we just used two recommended CQ macros. They
were:

For non-Minnesota: CQ MN W1XYZ

For Minnesota: CQ MQP WB0AAA

Because the FT-8 logs are separate from the regular logs submitted, we
chose to not give QSO or multiplier credit, but just the bonus points. They
will count for the word challenge that we had, and there are several who
are working on programs to tally the number of letters achieved from the 1
x 1 calls from both types of logs.
