You could try "Session type: Custom Desktop" and specify startplasma-x11
as the command to be run on the server.

[X2Go-User] Can't start a plasma session

2020-06-18 Thread Mihai Dobrescu
Hello, my x2go, provided by Sabayon Linux, can't start a KDE session
because there is no more startkde command, I guess now it must run
startplasma-wayland or startplasma-x11.
Is there a version that implements that? Which one?

Thanks for the tip, but there's no 3.5.99.24 there. Should I file a bug
report asking Orion to update the Fedora package?
Is it just nx-libs that needs an update?

Yes, that's crap by KDE... You can disable that by fiddling with some
config file but it tends to come back with updates.. However, as a

Actually it's worse (and weirder) than I thought. If x2go client is
running, cut/paste doesn't work anywhere on my client side, not only within
x2go client. I just tried
cut/paste between tabs in chrome on my client (not within x2go) and nothing

experiment again,

Hi Johannes,

When I do the LD_LIBRARY_PATH switcheroo for Mesa libgl-xlib, the OpenGL
program Kivy and the test program glxgears
start flickering quite much. Kivy doesn't even work with the default x2go
OpenGL version.
Do you experience this and would you have advice on how to get rid of it? The
programs still work ok and don't crash.

I'm running x2go server in a Docker container on CentOS 7.

Both client and server are Fedora (31 and 32).

I'm running a kde/wayland client, with capslock mapped to ctrl.
When I connect to the server (running mate) everything works fine, except I
don't have capslock mapped to ctrl.
Every time I connect (not every time the session starts) I have to run
setxkbmap -option caps:ctrl_modifier

Oh actually one thing doesn't work. Cut/paste is totally nonfunctional.

As I wrote, let x2go do the keyboard stuff and so not set an own one.
Internally there's is some magic happening which converts some
keycodes in certain circumstances. Ensure that setxkbmap -query
outputs the same locally and in the session.

Please also check if there's any hint about keycode conversion in the
log of the session (~/.x2go/.../session.log), one of these messages
Info: Keycode conversion is on
Info: Keycode conversion is off
Info: Keycode conversion auto-determined as on
Info: Keycode conversion auto-determined as off

It should be off in your case.

Reading that file has been dropped from nx in February of 2017
(3.5.99.17). If x2go still delivers that it is a bug!

[X2Go-User] SSH compression

2020-06-18 Thread Simon Reiter
Hi,

I already read a few information about the compression used in x2go at
https://github.com/ArcticaProject/nx-libs/issues/802.

My naive assumption would be that using the compression in x2go makes any
compression in the SSH config obsolete, because the compression is only a
general one and the one in x2go should suite better for what to be transmitted.

Since x2go reads my SSH config, I am now wondering, if the “Compression” option
in the config file is ignored when establishing the connection or not. On my
current setup, the x2go server requires a ProxyJump, which I set up in the x2go
session settings. Does it provide better performance to do it like this or
rather open manually a SSH connection to the target host with some local
forwarding? And also here with or without compression?

I am very happy for some recommendations.

Best regards,
Simon Reiter

Re: [X2Go-User] Problems using HTML5 kvm console

I'm not sure about it. The browser implements the standard as it is
defined
(https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/API/KeyboardEvent/code) as
you can see with the help of this website:
https://w3c.github.io/uievents/tools/key-event-viewer.html

The local X runs with the following default settings

rules: evdev
model: pc105
layout: de
variant:nodeadkeys

I have also tried these settings via x2go. Unfortunately, the key code
is still interpreted as "NumpadEnter" and is therefore passed on to the
KVM console.

Okay. But it seems still the default in "/etc/x2go/x2goagent.keyboard".

Best regards
