Did you use setparams script? The tnc needs to set to kiss mode settings. I 
built one and parameters never stayed stable even though the test points were 
checjed good.

When you say you installed it on the RPi, does that include the steps to
enable the serial port in the section of the manual on configuring the
Rasperry Pi?
