Re: [Xastir] Xastir <> Uronode

Hello Peter,

Sorry, you miss the point, I want the RADIO data to appear on
my Xastir running here, APRS-FI has nothing to do with it at all.

So you're looking to stop running FBB and UroNode, QSY your radio to
your local APRS frequency, and run an RF-based APRS node?

Please remember.. Xastir *only* does APRS traffic on RF.

Hi peter,

Maybe I missed what you were trying to do as well.

Each ax port can be shared by many programs, just point each program to
ax2 and both of them will use the radio.

For a while when I was running a bbs, and trying to stir up some local
interest in aprs, I had both fbb and xastir sharing the same radio on a
very quiet local channel.

Hello Peter,

The Xastir / FBB / Uronode all run on the same box on debian
8.7.1. the Xastir at the moment is logged into a aprs2 server so no
problem there.
What I want to do is to transfr the data from radio, thru a pipe maybe
to Xastir and if possible back the other way. In other words, a
bi-directional pipe.

But what data from the radio (on the FBB/UroNode) would you want to send
into the APRS-IS side? It would need to get special formatting to make
the data acceptable on the APRS servers. Once there, what would consume
that data?

Hi peter,

Can't you use a pipe between the two with pseudo ports for each program?
I used to use pty ports but I'm not familiar with the current (Unix98?)
application of pipes.

Hi All,

I have just converted over to 64Bit and running FBB / Uronode,

I am trying to find a Plugin or such for either Uronode / Xastir to
communicate with each other.

I already have Xastir running on ax2 in Linux to a PK-232 TNC and
would like to hook it somehow.
