[XFree86] Re: nVidia GeForce + Apple 23 High Definition Cinema Display

The fan stopped spinning and it overheated and crashed my box. Anyway have a look at some of the pics on the page and I'll try to get it updated as soon as I can get it functional under unix. I'm going to try to get it to work in: *) Redhat Linux 8.0 w/ nVidia binary drivers stock XFree86 *) NetBSD 1.6-STABLE (-rnetbsd-1-6 branch as of last week) with XFree86-current native 'nv' driver (-rHEAD branch as of last night) Anway, gonna go check on my card. I put it in the refrigerator (no frost). This is great stuff and good to hear. Which of the NVidia cards is it you are running? [XFree86] Re: [Xpert]apple cinema + radeon dvi
Whatever came of this? I am still struggling on with just the crt just now. I upgraded to XFree 4.2.99.4 today, still no luck. I assume you're using the apple DVI- ADC adapter? yes, I am. There are plentry of confirmed reports of this combo working in `d0z3. I'm doing something very similar to this and am currious as to your results. Do you have the details of any confirmed reports, specific hardware setup etc. A link would be nice as I have heard very little so far. What about your setup? Do you actually have this display running? Any pointers would be very much appreciated ~Colin. ___ XFree86 mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://XFree86.Org/mailman/listinfo/xfree86
[XFree86] 23inch Apple Cinema HD
Hi, I have a 23-inch apple cinema hd display that I am trying to get running under xfree86 4.2.1 with an ATI 7500. I have an apple ADC to DVI convertor but I am getting nothing from the apple display. xfree is sensing that the display is plugged in but I get nothing. There is also nothing obvious from the log file. I have tried various config options and modelines, but I still see nothing. I am beginning to suspect that the graphics card might be to blame, a Radeon 7500 *Powered by ATI*, not an actual ATI board. I have posted previously about this display and am still stuck with it after a few months of trying. Does anyone have one of these displays up and running? Any thoughts on the card itself, would I have more luck with one of the newer ATI cards or one of the NVidia range? Thanks for any help, ~Colin. ___ XFree86 mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://XFree86.Org/mailman/listinfo/xfree86

I dont see anything obvious from the log file to suggest why nothing is happening, the second monitor, a regular crt sparks into life quite happily. I've tried adding a second crt to ensure that there is nothing more fundamentally wrong with the dual head setup. Both crt's run fine. Do you have one of these apple displays up and running? would you mind taking a look some logs or config? From what I see, I would expect to see something happen on the apple, XFree seems to know its there, even a small sign of life would be good... [Xpert]Apple 23 HD Cinema Modeline
Hi, I'm having trouble getting a 23 Apple HD Cinema display up and running under XFree86 4.2.1. I'm aiming for a dual head system with a regular CRT using a radeon 7500 for the apple, and the onboard graphics chip for the CRT. I've posted previously on this after getting nowhere, but i can now see that Xfree is sensing the display, but is having trouble driving it. i suspect we need a correct modeline entry in the config... Firstly, does anyone actually have one of these Apple display's up and running ? If so, could you post a modeline, and maybe what hardware it is running on. If so the monitor is likely to have given us the information we would need to build the modeline - the X server doesn't do this itself yet (although a recent CVS version may do this with a radeon). If so, could you send us the part of the logfile between Monitor info and end of Monitor info (these are not the exact strings; mine are I2C Monitor info and end of I2C Monitor info). [Xpert]apple cinema + radeon dvi
Hi, I've just put together a new system with an 23 apple cinema hd display using an ati radeon 7500 card through the apple adc to dvi convertor. However i get nothing on the display after power up. The power light on the apple appears to comes on, and then fades off again and then nothing. I'm using a fresh install of gentoo linux, ix36, with XFree86 4.2.1 Any ideas? [Xpert]ATI DVI at high resolutions?
Hi, I've just read an article (http://www.epinions.com/content_58368757380) about the viewsonic flatpanel which mentions that ATI drivers/cards wont output DVI at high resolutions, ie anything over 1280x1024. I admit that this article is Windows based, but, Is this correct under XFree86 ? is the max resolution for ATI DVI 1280x1024 ? Im thinking of purchasing an ATI Radeon 7500 and a large screen flatpanel, maybe a 23 viewsonic (1600x1200), or a 23Apple Cinema (1920x1200), so do require a nice high resolution! Is anyone currently running with this set up at high resolution? ~Colin. ___ Xpert mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://XFree86.Org/mailman/listinfo/xpert
[Xpert]pci_retry zipping sound
Hi, I currently have and ATI Rage XL using the 'ati' driver of XFree86 4.1 under debian. Everything looks fine, however, when i drag a window, or move a scroll bar i get a 'zipping' or 'chopping' effect of the sound. From what i have read within ALSA documentation, this may be caused by the graphics card making excessive use of the pci bus. There is also mention of a pci_retry option within XF86Config-4 that may be used to help this situation. This pci_retry option does not seem to be supported by the 'ati' driver. 1) Is there a similar option for use with the 'ati' driver? 2) if not, Is there another work-around? Thanks for any help. ~Colin. ___ Xpert mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://XFree86.Org/mailman/listinfo/xpert
[Xpert]Dual Head + Fast 2D Graphics
Hello, Im looking at creating a dual headed system for use while developing an animation tool. Screen 1 for most of the development/coding work, Screen 2 for fullscreen playback of the animated sequences Im looking for advice on a fast 2D graphics card (im not interested in 3D) with good support under linux. I would also prefer that the video drivers were open source. Any suggestions or advice?? I would also be interested to hear from anyone with a similar set-up, what cards, configuration, problems etc you use/had.
