You didn't set the monitor section to for DVI-0: (II) RADEON(0): Output VGA-0 using monitor section L227W (**) RADEON(0): Option PreferredMode 1024x768_60.00 (II) RADEON(0): I2C bus VGA-0 initialized. (II) RADEON(0): Output DVI-0 has no monitor section It's using the monitor section for VGA-0. I tested with a Ubuntu 9.04: Normal Boot: I see the Boot Logo hear the bootsound (holy crapy) but then black screen. Nothing happens. I tested if some tty are available and pressed ctrl+alt+f1...f7 and get a prompt. lsmod | grep radeon shows me that the radeon is active. Boot in graphic safe mode: no problems.
