I think we need Resource into ApplicationSubmissionContext because Resource will be removed from CLC. bq:TestApplicationMasterLauncher: Why is the assertion to verify ContainerID removed, we shouldn't? Originally, the containerId is from .getSubmissionContext().getAMContainerSpec().getContainerId() (get AppicationSubmissionContext -->CLC --> ContainerId). But right now, ContainerId will be removed from CLC, so there is no containerId object either in ApplicationSubmissionContext and CLC. I think we can directly get ContainerId from MasterContainer which is from RMAppAttempt.getMasterContainer().getContainerId(). Will add ContainerId verification back. > Change startContainer NM API to accept Container as a parameter and make > ContainerLaunchContext user land > - > > Key: YARN-486 > URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/YARN-486 > Project: Hadoop YARN > Issue Type: Sub-task >Reporter: Bikas Saha >Assignee: Xuan Gong > Attachments: YARN-486.1.patch, YARN-486.2.patch, YARN-486.3.patch, > YARN-486.4.patch > > > Currently, id, resource request etc need to be copied over from Container to > ContainerLaunchContext. The idea is remove the ContainerId, Resource from CLC, and put org.apache.yarn.api.records.Container into StartContainerRequest, and when do the startContainer(StartContainerRequest), the ContainerId and resource can be got from the Container 2. Change the StartContainerRequest api and proto, change the CLC api and proto. Most of codes can be easily changed. Add one setContainer statement when we build the StartContainerRequest object. 3.encapsulate Resource object into org.apache.hadoop.yarn.server.nodemanager.containermanager.container, ApplicationSubmissionContext and ContainerRemoteLaunchEvent 4.fix all the related java codes and test codes, such as remove ContainerId, Resource from BuilderUtils.newContainerLaunchContext, add Resource to createApplicationSubmissionContext() function, set ContainerId into StartContainerRequest, etc > Change startContainer NM API to accept Container as a parameter and make > ContainerLaunchContext user land > - > > Key: YARN-486 > URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/YARN-486 > Project: Hadoop YARN > Issue Type: Sub-task >Reporter: Bikas Saha >Assignee: Xuan Gong > > Currently, id, resource request etc need to be copied over from Container to > ContainerLaunchContext. The container is not embedded into CLC. It is added as parameter to startContainer() API. It is always available at that time. However, one issue found when I did this attempt is that a "fake" container for AM need to created before submitting the application. In contrast, other containers that will be put into CLC are all actually allocated. Therefore, IMHO, the "fake" container should be specially treated. > Change startContainer NM API to accept Container as a parameter and make > ContainerLaunchContext user land > - > > Key: YARN-486 > URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/YARN-486 > Project: Hadoop YARN > Issue Type: Sub-task >Reporter: Bikas Saha >Assignee: Bikas Saha > > Currently, id, resource request etc need to be copied over from Container to > ContainerLaunchContext.
