I know what you as far as a complete studio version but it seems much
of FZs live stuff were live/studio hybrids with overdubs, which gives
it all such an interesting aural quality - just like the stuff on Roxy
& Elsewhere that was full of the famous FZ live/studio hybrid.

Kinda like the audio equivilent of someone painting on a real
photograph. Just like what my former drummer Aaron Brown did when he
painted on a real photo for Steve Vai's Passion & Warfare cover.

But I agree, it would be interesting to know if there is an existing
all-studio version of TR. I had never given it any thought and wonder
how many other tunes like that were only released in a live setting.

Both of those vids had the same effect on me. One very funny and the
other very sad and sobering.

On another note, not sure if such a DVD has been made yet by any of
you, but I would LOVE to have a DVD of the following FZ/TV
appearances.

1 The cleanest possible Steve Allen 1963
2 FZ on Miami Vice
3 Dance Fever
4 Make Me Laugh
5 The Boy Who Left Home to Find out About the Shivers
6 etc etc etc

Basically, oddball TV shows/movies/skits that FZ appeared in as I
don't have any of these.

Not so much interviews or gigs but stuff like the above. Does anyone
have something like this we could all share?

Does anyone have a concise list of these type of TV appearances with
FZ?

Some great footage of Lenny Bruce, etc:

[Zappa-List] Re: question about Zappa song, also Tinsel Town Rebellion

2007-06-14 Thread stumpe22
Well, thanks to everyone for the welcome and response!
The live song on YouTube is actually footage from Sept. 8, 1978 at
the Circus Krone in Munich Germany. There are 7 songs and the videos
are called "We don't Mess Around" and "St. Alfonzo's Pancake
Breakfast" is We Don't Mess Around 7 of 7. The live Saarbrucken CD
lists St. Alfonzo's Pancake Breakfast as including Father O'Blivion
and Rollo, so I guess it was a medley. But, on the video it
says "St. Alfonzo's Pancake Breakfast" on the screen.

Another thing I never understood also is why there was never a studio
version of Tinsel Town Rebellion, another of my alltime favorite
Zappa songs.

Thanks a lot everyone for your info and feedback,
-Michael
