2012-05-04 Thread guygonzo1
Since I've gotten a couple of bites I'll start a vine offering for this.
Protocol is in the "Files" section here. Please look at it.
I'll offer the item and there will be a "chain" of interested parties that add
themselves to the "vine" who will receive the item, make their copy and then
send it off to the next person on the vine. Add yourselves to the vine below
and forward your mailing address to the person before you.
Rick Derse, you would be next in line if you want to participate. Once you add
yourself here, I'll mail it out to you and you'll do the same for the next
person on the vine.

I got a request from Rick Derse in Illinois for this tape.
Is anyone else interested in this as a vine offering or should I just send it
off to Rick and be done with it?

2011-12-19 Thread guygonzo1
If this hasn't been mentioned yet, this is not a Halloween show. Date is
10/11/71.
I was at this show...front row.
A couple of "foggy" memories...
My buddy and I brought along a Varese lp to present to Frank. At the start of
the show we walked the 10 feet or so to the stage (observing Bald Headed John
emerge from the shadows towards Frank and us)and handed Frank the disc. I seem
to recall him reading the cover and saying "Thanks for the album." On one of
these cd's, at the start of the show (Auspicious Occaision) Frank says "It says
Uncle Meat. Thanks for this." I don't recall anything about Uncle Meat, but I
think the "Thanks for this." was directed at my friend and I for the album.
Another memory...
During one of the tunes, Mark was singing off key and I visibly cringed in my
seat. Mark noticed this and looked at me and mimicked my expression. I made a
different silly face and he responded in kind. This went on for a few more
silly faces when I just cracked up and it stopped. He continued performing the
whole time without missing a beat...now singing in key.
I also recall a good portion of the audience Mudsharking up and down the aisles
of Carnegie Hall.

[Zappa-List] Re: Beefheart Live Recordings

2011-01-06 Thread guygonzo1
Steve,
Thanks for the generous offer of these shows!

I was at that Bottm Line show and snuck a cassette deck in and recorded it too.
Once when a friend and I were (high)listening to and had to pause it, I
accidentally hit play and record when starting it up again and wiped a little
bit of Bat Chain Puller. You can hear my buddy screaming "NO! NO! NO!" (on my
recording, not this one).

A little bit of trivia...at the end of Lo Yo Yo Stuff the Captian dedicates Bat
Chain Puller "to Barbara, and Pasta and Diane".
"Diane" was Diane Keaton who was at the table next to mine.
She even gave me a big smile...but I choked and averted mine eyes.:(
