RE: [Zappa-List] OT: There's something weird going on...
Ive had the same thing happen on other groups. Seems like yahoo has been erratic ever since it was hit with that big virus last month. I don't know if it's Yahoo orAOL that's responsible for this, but I just noticed something strange -I received an email this morning from the group that I had sent 5 days ago. I remembered this email because at the time I sent it I didn't see itdelivered tomy mailbox so I sent it again. This time the second email was delivered right away. I figured the first email was lost forever, so I was surprised to see it show up this morning 5 days after it was sent. I sent a coment aboutit this morning and now that hasn't been delivered. It will be interesting to see if it shows up in 5 days... ...Weird! john k Check out AOL.com today. Breaking news, video search, pictures, email and IM. All on demand. Re: [Zappa-List] OT: There's something weird going on...
John, That could have been me (well, yahoo and me)... Because of some strange, yahoo anti-spam feature, the occasional response - or post - to the group gets tagged with a 'spam' indicator, and is held in limbo until a moderator releases it to the group. I released two messages this morning, one of them was yours, the other from Les Watts... There's no notice sent to me that these messages are waiting for approval, unlike those new - or more quiet - members, who's posts are moderated before I clear them for unmoderated access. When yahoo merged with SBC, they made some changes that ultimately gave me two "identities": one for my regular email and one for my groups membership. Since it's a bit of a pain in the ass to switch back forth, I do not physically visit the Lists yahoo page as often as a good owner should. I visited the page today, to lift the moderation on a new and active viner. That's when I noticed the two "potential spam" messages, and released them. I cannot answer for why your post was considered spam, I can only apologize that it took me this long to discover it... Information overload, I know, but that's the true story. Re: [Zappa-List] OT: There's something weird going on...
A-ha! OK, well that makes sense. The email from this morning was probably tagged as spam too, since it had the same subject line as the original email. You don't have to release this one if you come across it, since it's just a comment on the weirdness of the 5-day-old email. Thanks for the explanation, SOFA. Re: [Zappa-List] OT: There's something weird going on...
On your hunch, I just checked the yahoo page and - sure enough - it was there... I guess it's the price we must pay for keeping our group spam / porn free. Which reminds me of a song: Porn Free! As free as a mouse click, As free as a limp dick, Porn's Free - but not at the List...
