Personally, i rarely watch streaming video. i find that it is, for
the most part, useless and just takes up bandwidth.
They way i figure it is, if you are at your computer, listening to
audio, you most likely doing something else at the same time- and
not watching the stream. We have some
new/sealed Peacefrog 10.100, Roy Davis Jr., Machine Hunter, more. Thx. (all

I have heard of Prince referred to as Little Richard Hendryx, the black
Bowie, and Repo-Elvis before, but I don't think he's the tap root of techno.
A major feeder line maybe.
Consider that Mojo played a lot of Prince to a Detroit radio
Not to mention at one of techno's peak development years (1989),
Prince released the abominable Batman soundtrack.

I have heard of Prince referred to as Little Richard Hendryx, the black
c'mon, though. early prince -- after the first few albums, before purple
rain -- was all about synths and minimal funk. the albums controversy, dirty
mind and 1999 quite obviously share a kinship not only with the aesthetics
of techno but with the means of production. i'm not saying he is techno

Anyone know of good goings-on in Windsor or Detroit post-Lifefest? The
official Lifefest after-party, Afterlifefest was added to the lifefest
website tonight. A lot of those names ring a bell, but I don't think I've
seen any of them. Am I missing out?

Run, don't walk, to get this album.
Adam sent me MP3's of this a few weeks ago, and it is off the chain. Lush
ambient bleeps and chill percussion. It is really excellent material, I
highly recommend it.
Take care,

I know ... just trying to put some perspective on it ... when techno
was beginning to flex its muscle, Prince got on-board with samplers
and dance music (irony-infused quotes there), and embarrassed
himself.
I'll throw Irresistible Bitch in there as a likely source of much
inspiration,
if he follows form, those parties only happen every 5 years...

Prince did a techno song in Melbourne during his Australian tour with
Diamond and Pearl. I have it on, um, bootleg. It's kinda like his take on
happy gabba! This was 1990/'91.
You can tell a lot about people from their favourite Prince record - it's
like star signs. I know Derrick May's was 1999,
The Batman soundtrack wasn't too badand the first track 'The Future'
at least shares a theme with techno. I'd imagine some of Prince's stuff
would have heavily influenced a lot of the early sexy techno like Where we
Used to Play and Just Another Chance.

I think if you were to ask some of the source innovators, both American and
Euro alike, Jimi Hendrix's name would arise more often than Prince's. While
Prince was a huge influence, Jimi built the world's most innovative
recording studio, Electric Ladyland Studios, in 1968 (I think) and up
I'm sure this question has been asked multiple times, but I'm going to ask
it again.
Can any helpful 313 member please provide a link to the audio files from

Much appreciated!

Regarding Stevie Wonder, if you ever get a chance to hear anything by
Tonto's Expanding Head Band, give it a go. They were responsible for
Wonder's keyboards and even developed the Stevietron, so I've been told.
They're own music is serisouly f*cked up electronic music that would be best
Erin,
Seems that Yahoo still has them up... Theses some bleeding of a rock concert
into it.. But the links to the streams are in the archives of the smutism

Regardless, Jimi is the man. More of his posters/wall hangings grace more
Detroit tech-headz' studios rivalled only by Bruce Lee.
Moreover, when Jimi was the man, there weren't millions of market specific

now i'm looking for discographies of quark records and movin' records.

Songs In The Key Of Life was a title that I came up with from a dream that
I'd had. It represents that uniqueness of the time. Stevie Wonder.
Songs of the Key of Life is available on VHS and DVD
check this from AMG's website about Tonto's Expanding Head Band:
