Sheesh, thought it was going to be an article on Tyree Cooper in Sydney!
What a way to get my hopes up in the morning... ;-)
well, nice to see tyree guyton is coming to sydney, but like dave, i was
hoping for tyree cooper i was quite excited there for a moment.
i've never heard him spin - does he play out?

Well I'm not sure if he plays out, but last year there was a Hustler mix
cd by him:
Holding onto your 12 inches takes on a whole new meaning with the
release of Hustler's recent porn title 'DJ Groupie'. With a tagline of
'Techno beats, hardcore heat' the Hustler group invited themselves to
That mix looks dodgy.
still, tyree has produced some great tracks. 'i fear the night' is a fav.
-it's on my latest mix (www.jbucknell.com).

spotted this on littledetroit.net
it's a digital distribution service, and by the looks of things, they're
looking for labels to distribute.
don't know anything about it, possibly of use to some peeps though?

that's interesting.
i tried to post something last nite on this topic but failed. my post
was prompted by this comment by Jochem:
I love vinyl, and expressed that view in the past quite explicitly but
were coming to a point where we just cant afford it anymore. I really

I agree. While the larger distributers have an upper hand over everyone
else when it comes to supplying vinyl, we smaller labels need a means to
supply new music on vinyl as well. If there is a growing market for digital
format(which there obviously is) then we should take advantage of it.
so to what extent is soulseek having an influence (for better
or worse)
on the move from distribution of underground music on vinyl to
distribution of the music via other means (ie. mp3)?
A lot of labels have seen a decreas of sales due to p2p networks. And since
a lot of small labels were

instead of blaming mp3, p2p networks etc one should look at the entire
situation. i really hate slsk and the likes but i dislike the idea of
putting them in charge for the overall economy situation. don't forget
that technology is always improving and the music industry wasn't /

I don't think you have to worry about vinyl disappearing for a long while.

Hi,
By moving to mp3 (or something similar) small labels would
save the money,
that would otherwise go into pressing vinyl, and maybe make
some profit
again.
But I definitely don't like this kind of future very much, as
I love to
Hello Tim, I was on your website i read your bio and it says you grew up in
Detroit. That's not true. someone in ann arbor the other day and showed Glen
Tempe pictures of you in middle school and High school in ann arbor. Why do ou
say Detroit?
Tyree is alive and well and living in Berlin.
I was on the Tim Baker website the other day and it says he grew up in Detroit.
Now that is not true. I work in Ann Arbor, an I work with someone who went to
middle school and high school with him. At first I didn't believe him until
they just showed me yearbook pictures from his middle school

How petty are you? If you grew up in Michigan you would know that Ann Arbor
is considered Metro Detroit. Derrick, Kevin and Juan are from Belleville
and I don't see anybody questioning them. I grew up in the Detroit music
scene and that all that matters to me!!

Saying you're from Detroit just keeps conversations conceptually
simple, rather than having to get into some big spiel about where this

Makes sense to me, when people ask where I'm from I just say Cleveland
to keep it simple.

I have to second this notion. I was born in Saginaw, MI, Moved to Detroit at

Hey everyone...
Go to the Detroit Free Press website and look at the classified ads for
buying a house. The metro-Detroit map goes as far north as Flint, as far
west as Ann Arbour, as far South as the Ohio border, and as far east

town to appease my vinyl habit [even finalscratch cant hold me back!] ...
I've been meaning to visit koobla in soha for some time as Ive heard good
things and wandered past long ago and saw some metro area in the window.
But just to be save in the future i tell people that i grew up in
