I have been checking out clips of the New Dance Show that aired on
Detroit TV in the early 90s. Does anyone have more info about this
show? How long it ran for and who was selecting the music for this
show?... it's incredible!

yeah they're awfully fun to watch! i would love to see them compiled on dvd or
something..if anybody knows any of the producers of the show or can get ahold
of the original tapes somehow...ha. would be good for those who like to dance
in front of the tv anyway...nice and close to the couch
That's the geekiest, most trainspottery thing I've ever seen - watching
a DJ record shopping! I like it!

I agree with Tom. (sorry Michael)I like seeing a DJ,
though my mind instantly goes in to 'what are his
tracks' huffpuff;it's sometimes more human than a
Serius feed.
I've always wanted to be the DJ in the back of the

lighting and dimsum. Perhaps
I dunno - I was just getting off on hearing Art Ensemble Of Chicago's

haha, that's pretty funny! Aquarius is right around the corner from
me and I gotta say, if you love your experimental releases, this shop
is your mecca. Incredible selection of releases you've never heard

yeah, and funnily enough aquarius have never really
stocked much in the way of detroit techno (or really
anything else you can actually dance to).
their techno stock has always been a bit more in the
sahko and basic channel veins.

Before it was called the New Dance Show it was called The Scene. It used
to air right after public school ended around 3:00. This gives you an idea
of who the shows main audience probably was. It was filmed at Studio 94 (or
was it Studio 95?) on Woodward Ave close to the Detroit Amtrak stop.
Very true. Dance music could be just about anything, you just have to
change the way you move. ;-)
