Im one of Shake's biggest fans but even I could not enjoy myself at his
set. 1st of all i heard the same exact set played by him a year ago at an
after party at olslo's. no kidding it was the same for sure. the only
difffrence was instead of juggiling two copies of the pace he juggled

that's the first criticism of shake, as a producer or a dj, that i've
ever come across. you're a brave man.

I personally don't see what it's intended to achieve, really. Still,
I've got too many more pressing things to do to than indulge in some
hatin'. (Fun as hatin' can be sometimes).

Those who have bravely ventured forth to play records
(or CDs or DATs or MP3s or whatever) to the public also
recognize checking the equipment with the previous user
rather than winging it as a sign of professionalism.

I'll second that.
FWIW I didn't make it to DEMF, but whenever I've seen Shake, he's
never failed to impress me

shake looked confused and should
not have tried playing with the onboard effects if he didn't know how.
Let the hating begin!
Looks like it's already started. I'm wondering how you know he was
confused and not frustrated by the well documented effects of MS on his
motor skills. From where

As far as I'm concerned Shake is the man and I couldn't care less if

greatest respect for Shake and love his DJ sets because they are so

I'm going to chime in on this one because well...
It's anyone's right to dislike/like a set.However,
when it's Shake...for me at least, it's a different

I'm just mad as hell Shake didn't rock doubles of Shalamar, George
Benson or I-Level.
Had he done that, I think all of you would be licking the wheels of
his badmotorscooter with your tongues. Hell, you should be doing that
already.
Dunno about the first part mate, but I'd have thought that the number of
players which will simply refuse to play VBR-encoded files is now close
to zero? (Plus many good, modern ones are free to download anyway...)
Q2. Is there any reason not to use VBR? - i.e. maybe some older players

Shake is one of the few djs that really takes chances. His mixes are always
on the verge of shoes in the dryer, but they are always exciting and usually
unexpected and original.
He's always been one of my faves and has been an inspiration to my style.

To be honest i have never heard any of his sets. Sounds like an

sound system at notting hill carnival, i think it would go down well.

Before I begin, I have to take some responsibilty here, since I did
provide certain treats that obviously clouded his thinking. That being
said, lets debunk this myth of the same set.

Well, from the reports I read all over the web, it seems most of the
european-based djs were all dropping the same boring minimal
schtrinimal tunes, so I guess Shake MUST have made a difference. And
what's the problem with playing the same records again, if they're good?
BTW, can anyone

the reality of what happend and what you said was to close to be

It actually breaks down into 'flesh-biting'.

Ooh Tony and Jwan should start biting each other's flesh! Whoever wins

Did anyone go down to Cielo last night to see Theo?
I'll tell you what, one of the great moments of the festival was watching
Shake waving his cane around in glee right behind Claude Young
while Claude was revving it up during his set and making I Feel Love
do things it has never done before :)
