Re: 313] Bluetrain Records....
Bluetrain have recently promoed two seperate ten-inches. The first, a few weeks, is called 'Diminishing Returns' and features Dean Dacosta on one side and Steve O'Sullivan on the other. The second is called 'Standard Version' and is, I think, all Steve's work. And yes, there is another compilation on the way (the first, 'No Lightweight Stuff' is a MUST for fans of dub techno), but in the meantime watch for the first Mosaic compilation next month with trax by memory Foundation, Mark Broom, Paul Mac and others. Steve has also started a new project, T.A.C., which is kinda his take on the jacking Chicago sound. The first release should be out either now or very soon, featuring Steve, Chris McCormack and John Beer, but I didn't think it was all that and definitely preferred the Bluetrain releases. Tom MF

Yes all the bluetrain releases are excellent but not all of Steve O'Sullivan's work is in that same sound. The new Steve O'Sullivan 2x12 you're probably thinking of is recent double pack of remixes on his Mosaic label. Probably one of my favorite Mosaic releases as of late. The Eight Miles High Bluespirit remixes are excellent! Here is the info on sed release: . Re: (313) bluetrain
3jane: can sumone giv me the lodown on the bluetrain releases to date? Bluetrain is run by Steve O'Sullivan, who also runs Mosaic and used to run Bluespirit, Green and no doubt one or two other very low-key labels. The 'Version Blue' blue vinyl doublepack is the most recent release I've seen. The feel of the labels seems to be very heavily dub-influenced techno, very much in the Maurizio vein. Good stuff, and an interesting contrast to the more tech-house based Mosaic output. Don't have a discography I'm afraid (I don't own all the releases) but I think 'Version Blue' is number 5 or 6. On the topic of the Bluetrain label, i'd like to drop some major praise on this label. Bluetrain, which is one of Steve O'Sullivan's many projects, features a sweet dub meets tech-house/techno sound yes this stuff is good, I just heard the new 'version blue' and in addition to some great dubbed out house cuts, there are some snippets of very abstract dub here and there before and after the main cuts on the 12s. (nice cutting on the vinyl, artisticly done a-la rings of saturn) If you like the rhythm sound and maurizio stuff you won't be able to resist this. peace -- Matt MacQueen [EMAIL PROTECTED] http://www.reverbmag.com archived radio shows -- http://macqueen.com/radio

The Hustler: s/t 12 (Bluetrain 01) This is my favourite, no doubt. There's a long track on there with a piano that sounds like it's going to fall apart any second and it sounds so funky. Love this track. Plus the EP has got a picture of John Coltrane on the label, so you know it has to be good :) Otto
