I actually may use your method. However, does this still work if the 4D SQL
server isn't running? I'm kind of new to the SQL part of 4D.

why you need this, but it is stored at the end of the following file:

In the structure preference panel, there's a "Primary Key" subpanel which
allows the designer to choose a default name and type (Longint/UUID) for
their database. Is there a way to programmatically collect that name?
