PDF Documentation

2020-07-07 Thread Dave Tenen via 4D_Tech
Does anyone know if and where any PDF documentation for version 18 exists?

If it doesn’t, is there any convenient way to take the html offline?

Thanks for your responses,
Dave Tenen

Re: POS Systems

2019-08-10 Thread Dave Tenen via 4D_Tech
Hi Doug and others

Thanks for your input.
This is for an art bar/studio with a cafe attached!
I was wondering if there was a 4D system that can be built on (by me) ar a
commercial system that, as was suggested, I can easily get data out of to input
into a homegrown 4D app that will fill the voids in respect to what is going on
at the art studio!
I’m looking at Clover right now as it is a lower cost to get a useful system in
place!

Thanks in advance for any input!

4D Mobile App

2019-07-20 Thread Dave Tenen via 4D_Tech
I am trying to learn the procedure and tutorial for 4D Mobile Apps

I am having a problem where the menu item “ Mobile Project” is not active!
I have gone trough the steps in the tutorial to setup, launch and run the
Mobile Project item in the New Menu, except it is not available to choose
(grayed out).
I am running 4d v17r4 on a MacBook pro running 10.14.5
Do I need a different version of 4D?

Any ideas on how to fix this?

Thanks in advance,
Dave Tenen

Old String resources

2018-04-29 Thread Dave Tenen via 4D_Tech
First, I apologize for repeating something posted here before, but I found no
answers for this in a search of my archives.
I’m working on converting older 4D dbs to the current versions. (The picture
issue resolution I posted about a few days ago is still in progress.)
Now I am working on what looks like old string text references (if I remember
correctly). It looks like they refer to a specific resource to pull the string
out. The reference is formatted this way “:15000,9”, etc. In this particular
case they were being used as titles of a subform, but they are scattered
throughout this db for various forms.
My questions are what version of 4D did these go away?
Are there any methods regarding retrieving them and reassigning them into
version 16 effectively.
Any help would be appreciated.

Picture resources

2018-04-27 Thread Dave Tenen via 4D_Tech
I know this has probably been covered here but I searched and found no clear
answer to this and any direction would be appreciated!.
I am trying to upgrade some older dbs to version 16, that have picture library
entries that are all coming up with the default images. How can I retrieve the
original Picture library images?
Also related to that…is there anything that will allow me retrieve old embedded
resources (mostly pics and icons) that have the format 15000;1 etc.?

Thanks for any help in this area!

Forgive my ignorance on these features. Maybe I wasn’t clear…I am in the
toolbox, in the Pictures item. There are pictures in that list (I'm assuming
they are buried in the structure) I want to take all of them and move them
into a place that a different structure can use them, ideally so they can be
reused by many structures…similar to a component!

Moving picture resources from one database to another

2018-02-08 Thread Dave Tenen via 4D_Tech
Hello out there.

I am getting back into the 4D world after a few years of absence, so forgive my
questions!

I am trying to move some picture resources between two structure file (on a
Mac) and it seems that you can’t move multiple resources at a time. Is this
true?

Are there any tools out there to make this whole process over merging
structures a little more organized or trackable?

Thanks in advance,
Dave Tenen
