I got this message from a customer on Friday after upgrading to v17 Windows:
"I’d say the program isn’t as smooth as it was before – kind of refreshing
the screen a lot/going blank for a second and re-appearing. When I drag and
drop items the whole list goes blank and I just guess where to drag
We went live with 17.0 last week at Sweetwater.
A few gotchas and glitches, but ready for deployment in my opinion. Like you,
this is our only window for a big upgrade during the year.
Our issues:
- The new network layer has taken a step back from v16. Performance died at

Everyone that responded mentioned new projects. Has anyone pushed a legacy
project from v16 to v17 into production with 4D Server with 20 or more users?
The best time for us to upgrade is summer. While it used to be that it would be
foolish to move to production before .1 or .2, v16 was pretty
Hey Steve,
I am really impressed with v17 and recommend it for all your new projects.
I also strongly recommend reading the blog. It's not just pretty. The posts
about the new v17 features are really worthwhile. The way you can associate
a collection with a listbox now is remarkably powerful once
I've been working quite extensively with it - haven't run into any issues
so far, and I'm loving the improvements to Write Pro.

We use v17 on a new project and didn't run into any issues at all. On the
contrary, it is super stable and very reliable. Especially the ORDA stuff works
amazingly well.

I see that a lot of you are using v17, doing active development with it,
testing it out with current projects, etc. I don't normally move production
projects into a new version until the xx.2 or xx.3 iterations, but am
wondering if some of you who are actually using v17 in production could
chime
