Are you talking about a DVD? Or an external Hard Drive?
If it's a hard drive:
you can try just ignoring the error and see if you can copy your
files over anyway. I've heard of people having success doing this.
You can try running a checkdisk on the drive. Just run it from

i got a disk with all my data on it and i tried to copy it off. I got the CRC
check error. so i know something is corrupted on it. Is there any free recovery
programs thats like Jfile recovery that will let me recover the stuff? (its
mainly music i have bought in the past) and other programs. or
