Hi Avichal,

Thanks for sharing your point of view and experience, I appreciate it.
Accessibility shouldn't be compromised based on week days or weekends and
not everyone is lucky to have a volunteer around. The idea is to make the
system robust and accessible for each and everyone, disabled or not. My
article is based on my opinion which is based on my personal experience.
It's okay to have differing opinions after all, in a democracy.

I fail to understand the discrimination angle hinted in the trail
mail. The circular mentions the minimum requirements and specifically
dilution of the provisions. It also mentions standard products.

Can someone please fill me in where I made a miss. I am wondering have
we now become cranky where instead of appreciating something positive we
find it compulsive to complain irrespective.

Re: [AI] Amrit Udyan: A common name ensures no access to the common (wo)man

2023-03-01 Thread Avichal Bhatnagar
Hi Shruti,
After reading your article, I must say that it is highly misleading.
On Tuesday, the 14th of February, I took the disabled students of my
college for a visit to Amrit Udyan, and they all had a very wonderful
time.
There were around 8 students, out of which 7 were visually challenged
and the eighth one had a locomotor disability.
We had provided one volunteer each to the visually impaired students,
and none of them found any difficulty in navigating the premises.
While it is true that there are some rough patches in the way which
must be made accessible for the disabled, but overall, the gardens are
a pleasant experience.
Your article is highly exaggerating in terms of highlighting the
inaccessibility of the udyan, and it is always advisable to avoid
going to such places on weekends as they do get crowded.
We went there on a week day, and the experience was good.
