[AI] Ensure gadgets, infrastructure for disabled on court premises: Delhi HC

2023-08-27 Thread avinash shahi
To make court premises more accessible, the High Court has directed
the Delhi government to provide infrastructure and financial
assistance to procure essential gadgets for the differently abled so
that they may take part in judicial proceedings.

The direction came on a petition filed by a differently abled man, who
is accused of subjecting his wife — a “polio orthopaedically disabled”
and a “70% differently abled person” — to verbal and physical cruelty.

The petitioner sought a direction to constitute a special court under
Section 84 of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act and to make
arrangements for him during the criminal trial that he is facing.

In an order on August 24, Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma said not only
the entry and exit points in the court complexes, rooms should also be
made disabled friendly.

For this, facilities must be provided to persons with disabilities
such as parties, counsels, witnesses, etc. so that they have no
difficulty, not only in physically accessing the court rooms, but also
in participating in the judicial process by use of technology, the
order read.

“There should be a pool of sign language interpreters and courts
should also have new technology, machines and services which support
visual and hearing-impaired persons, etc.,” it added.

Re: [AI] Ms Authenticator app accessibility issue

2023-08-27 Thread Ajay Minocha
Hi,

Just saw this thread, I think following steps should resolve the issue.
1. Open authenticator app and make sure that your account is
configured and you are on the first tab "authenticator".
2. Locate the more options button (found at top right of the screen).
3. Choose "show code" from the options and it should display the 6
digit code along with timer.

HTH,
Ajay

Re: [AI] MA Update | Progress on the CCPD Notices to Inaccessible Service Providers

2023-08-27 Thread Mission Accessibility
In terms of other responses, a couple of points. First, as regards the new
suggestions that have come in, such as Broker one et cetera, my colleague
colleague Tanishk, will shortly share with you the template that you can use to
reach out to the service providers. At present, Mission Accessibility is
pursuing complaints against more than 100 service providers that are in
accessible. And therefore it is not in a position to take up any more of such
matters on a pro bono basis. But you can use that template to send out notices
and even file CCPD complaints on your own. Second, with respect to the point
that Pinkesh made, our strategy is to wait for the six-month period that the
CCPD has given to each service provider to play out. After that, we will spend
no more than three months in trying to work with a CCPD to secure compliance
of the directions issued by the CCPD. And if, on the expiry of this nine
months, there are service providers which do not comply with the mandate as set
for them by the CCPD, of which there will be many, we will combine all of them
and approach the Supreme Court with a consolidated writ petition. That is the
plan of action that we have in mind. Rahul

Hi,
Can you confirm that Airtel, one of the biggest phone and network providers are
among these entities sent final notices before action will be taken against
them? Will be great to hear if that is so.

Kind regards,

Subject: [AI] MA Update | Progress on the CCPD Notices to Inaccessible Service
Providers

Dear All,

We want to provide you with an update on the progress made over the CCPD
notices sent to over 70 inaccessible platforms based on the list submitted by
MA. Over the past two months, we have received responses from approximately 18
service providers. These responses include government entities like the
Ministry of Law and Justice, RBI, SEBI, and the National Health Authority
(NHA), as well as private entities such as Reliance Industries, Sodexo,
Network18, Zee Entertainment, and Flo Health UK, among others.

Among these 18 responses, entities like RBI, NHA, and the Indian Navy have
asserted the presence of assistive features on their platforms. However, upon
our inspection, we identified some lingering issues on their websites,
prompting us to request the CCPD to issue orders for rectifying these
persistent problems on their digital interfaces. Further, companies like
Reliance Retail, Sedexo, and Sinhal Udyog have submitted their Equal
Opportunity Policies and have committed to taking steps to ensure that their
websites and applications become accessible.

We are currently in the process of filing rejoinders to each of the responses
received from these service providers. Additionally, we are sending out
reminders to the remaining service providers, urging them to submit their
replies. If they fail to do so, we will be initiating legal actions against
such platforms.

Thank you.
