Re: [AI] How blind-friendly is your Mumbai and what about water sports?

2024-01-09 Thread Shadab Husain
Thanks a lot ma’am. I’ll be glad to meet you again!

Mohib sir, I had put up my book’s stall in Goa Purple Fest last year. The
last day as I had 3-4 hours in my plain, I went to 2 beeches with my
partially sighted friends.

Adventures Beyond Barriers Foundation is for sports. I ran a marathon in
Delhi last October with them, and as my train departure was 5-6 hours away,
I went to places. My phone number seven three seven nine six six eight
three eight two.

Iqbal sir, that’s scary…even running with a volunteer I can’t get to my
full speed. Thanks, S

Asif, what is this GEN AI? and what do you mean by with out aid? How
would you run with out anyone's assistance? What if you don't know the
path you are running on?

Re: [AI] How blind-friendly is your Mumbai and what about water sports?

2024-01-08 Thread Mohib Anwar Rafay
Shadab, kindly share your number as i would like to connect with you.
I am also travel enthusiast. I have been visiting Goa on regular
basis to enjoy new year and rainy season. I once took boat ride from
Kalangute. As risks are involved in other water sports, i didn't
prefer to taken one. In Mumbai I have visitted Haji Ali, Gateway of
India, and several beaches several times. i found Mumbai as crowdy as
Delhi, and sometimes more congested.
If you have any such mailing list or whatsapp group consisting
visually impaired travelors for fun, let me know. I want to explore
South India, Northeast and of course few nations too. I have been
traveling along with my friends and never visited these locations
alone just because of fear how will i manage trains, flight and hotel
and of course exploring places alone.
For instance, in Goa, hardly you will get any public transport to go
from one place to another, one beach to other, you will have to hire
a bike, if you don't have your someone to drive the scooty or bike ,
you have to take a tour package with car to explore the places. In my
view, taking tour package with car defeats the purpose, as they will
only be finishing their job to make you visit the places and might not
help you to explore the things. So what are your experiences of
visiting Goa?

2024-01-08 Thread 'Mohammed Asif Asif Iqbal (IN)' via AccessIndia
Wow, I am also running half marathon 21km with no aid or no teathering and just
run on verbal road direction provided by my buddy runner. I just dream of
that day when I could run with Gen AI and Gen AI would be navigating me.
Thanks and regards

for the train, big stations have beeps for handicapt but the
compartment may be a bit this side or that side of the beep.
they have tactile marking which you walk on the platform you will no,
but they are a bit to the edge so take care.
some busses have announcements for stops but most atleast on the cst
gateway root dont.
regarding does or donts, its the same for all big cities.
take care of valuables, dont stand with mobile near the train or buss
door and keep attentions on your pockets.

RE: [AI] How blind-friendly is your Mumbai and what about water sports?

2024-01-08 Thread Kanchan Pamnani
Don’t know anything about Water Sports.

Mumbai is not accessible but helpful.

If you are coming to Gateway to go to Elephanta then I can help you get on the
Boat. From Gateway you can get a BEST bus for Rs. 6/- to CST station which
will then allow you to get a train for Panvel direct.

Haji ali is not possible. You will go out of the route and you will find it
very difficult to get to Panvel.

If you have 2 days then Haji Ali can be done.

Let me know when you are planning to come.

Subject: [AI] How blind-friendly is your Mumbai and what about water sports?

Hi friends,

I’m visiting Mumbai in some time and would be glad to know how friendly public
transportation is there for the totally blind.

I have less than 24 hours to see the Gateway of India and take a ferry to the
Elephanta Caves. I intend to also see the Haji Ali Dargah from where I’ll ride
to Panvel Railway Station.

Additionally, I want to parasail and scuba dive. Goa guys denied me parasailing
after knowing my blindness and said that they’ll get their license cancelled if
they allow me. I only managed to take a jet ski there, and this happened when I
quietly handed money to them and took full responsibility.

Kindly also let me know if there’re any special dos or don’ts for a blind
travelling alone to Mumbai.

Awaiting responses.

Thanks,

Shadab
