Thanks John,
Damselflys and dragonflies are something I am intending to spend more time
in learning this year if the opportunities arise. I was just thinking about
heading over to the brede waterworks area to see what I could spot there.

Our first Sussex Spider Group field visit to Lullington Heath today was very
successful. Undoubted highlight was the discovery of a very large female
Atypus affinis by Evan Jones. Photos of the Atypus, Araneus angulatus and
Platystomos albinus found today can be viewed here:
Hi Everyone,
The Glow-worm season is nearly upon us so this is an email to encourage
you to go out and explore at night time - Its amazing what other things
you might hear or see! The prime glowing time is mid-June to July but
they can also still be seen in August and sometimes even September.
I have heard several people recently talking about the new (I think) concept
of 'axiophytes'.
The most concise definition I have seen is that axiophytes are Plants
indicative of habitats that need to be conserved.
There is a web page put up by the Botanical Society of the British Isles
Hi Everyone,
On Saturday at dusk I saw at least seven male Stag Beetles all around an
Ivy-clad tree, looking for females perhaps? It was a wonderful sight, I
had forgotton how impressive they are!
This is an email to ask for any Stag beetle sightings that you may have
over the next month or so.
Sounds good - can't beat looking at one's local patch. You never know
what you will find. Now the weather's improving things should start to
get better.
If you have any questions or take any pics you need id'ing, I will do my
best to assist.
Good hunting.
John
