Hi
Can I redirect full database backup of TSM to a file level on the disk
instead of tape ?

IBM Global Services (I) Pvt Ltd.
yes you can
1.define a devclass with devtype=file
define devc filedevc devtype=file directory=destination directory
Make sure that sufficient freespace is available for destination directory
specified in the devclass definition
2.take the database backup
backup db type=full
thanks for your answer Zlatko.
I knew some genius would answer on this excellent list.

If I make a change to the DSM.OPT, will it take effect at the next backup? (Does the

I attempted to use Tivoli's Web site this morning to find out which client
levels are compatible with some of our Intel Linux systems. I ended up
at an IBM site which required registration. The registration process
included a page for entering IBM customer numbers and other information
as proof
I believe it gets read when the service starts. I would recommend
starting and stopping all your TSM client services on the node you
change the dsm.opt on.

AIX,
The DSM.OPT is only read when the scheduler has been restarted (for
automatic backups) or when the manual or web interface is stopped (if it was
running when you modified the DSM.OPT) and started again.

So, Paul, would you recommend 4.2.1.12 as stable? I am at 4.2.1.9 (on AIX)
