Yeah, I've looked at the 'show session' output, but I'm not sure I understand the
output. As 'show session' output might look like this:

There are months worth of these 10MB EDBx.LOG files. Is there an easy
way to remove them? I can upgrade the client today to 5.1.6.7. Will the next
backup cause AD to remove these old log files?

I have to backup a W2K server with a 160GB disk where the Windows XP
User profiles are stored
- about 1.5 million files and 20GB.
These files have spread over a lot of tapes - a restore of a user
profile just took 4 hours due
We have a similar scenario
For short term retention (5 years or less), we use dual node names Node_ARC
and send their data to a backup management class that functions for an
incremental archive. The downside is our database and dirmc size will
continue to grow for 2 years.

The windows and netware 5.2 clients have patch levels 6 and 3
respectively available but I can not find a patch level directory for
AIX, just the 5.2.0 code under the maintenance directory. Does this
indicate a failure on my part to find the AIX patches or are there no
AIX 5.2 64 bit client

that small consider a hardware upgrade.

Im trying to run reclamation on our copy storage pool. There is only one
tape left, and reclamation continually starts and ends successfully for it
without moving any data and no time passing:

Backup set is made from the data already on the server, you don't have to
transmit it again.
Downside, it is more difficult to restore a single file from a backup set.
You could also
1) Use a different node name for the monthly archive
2) Run the full backup to that node

for AIX or Windows you can make an IMAGE backup of the filesystem.
Manage the image backups with a different management class, even a differen
storage pool so that tapes can be removed from the library

That will give you an extra copy and may push old inactive versions into the bit
bucket, but you get a single consolidated tape.
