After exchanging tapes, it *did* happen once or twice here. When that
happens, people automatically get informed Really Quickly and come to
the library to close the door. Which is no problem,
Can you check the network settings on the HMCH1143 server. If this is
running half duplex, or particularly slow then the sessions will lock
parts of the target disk storage pool and hold them. This may be
directly conflicting with the migration process. As previously stated,

Hello,
I am using proxynode option on my TSM5320 LINUX fileservers.
Several fileservers use all targetnode LXTSM for their backups.
If users try to restore one of their files on node LXTSM, they dont see
their files, only root is able to restore.
I opened a PMR with IBM, they recreated this
I have queried the AIX list and got no response, so hope someone on this
list has implemented VIPA on AIX 5.1 or later. I have two ethernet
adapters and want to implement VIPA for the RAS benefits. If anyone has
this working, would you please email me so we can discuss your setup and
what I have
Good day all,
I used an exclude.dir command in an effort to exclude a directory from
my backups. While I was successful in exluding the directory from my
backup, the command also affected archive processing.
The following command was run inside a larger script -
dsmc archive -archmc=$ADSMMC
TSM Background:
TSM Server: 5.3.2.2
TSM Wintel Client Level: 5.3.2.2
Have restarted the sched service, permissions are fine. Trying to
manually backup asr via command 'dsmc backup asr' to recreate the
error.Just hanging on ASR backup.

That doesn't sound right to me. EXCLUDE.DIR should affect backup only.
What client level are you running? There is an older APAR, IC31329, that
describes your symptoms, but that was fixed somewhere in 4.2.2 and up.
Verify that you are using a current client level, then see if the problem
occurs
Nancy, from the way this is worded, it is not clear to me if *you* are
asking the question, or answering someone's post, or if this was intended
for someone else.
- The ANS1468E message should be available in dsmc help.
- ANS1468E is also available in the online Messages manual. Go to the TSM
I am puzzled by an anomalous TSM behavior. This is on TSM 5.3.2.3 running on

When I try to move media out of the library, the server reports no match is

I suspect there aren't any full tapes.

Could you verify if there are indeed Full tapes with this command

Of course, that was it. I knew I had to be missing something simple.

How many 3592 carts will a 3584 frame hold?
David
As Geoff Gill is learning, a 3584 is NOT a 3494. Is anyone considering
replacing a 3494 with a tape library (as opposed to a VTL) with anything
other than a 3584? Are there other alternatives out there for a library
with 3592 drives?
David
Depends on how many drives you have in it.
Look in the 3584 Intro Planning Guide, GA32-0469-03
Chapter 7, Frame Capacty has a table.

I believe ADIC supports 3592 drives is some form. A quick search of their
web site for 3592 gives hits - adic.com.

ADIC has the Scalar 10K that supports the 3592. We are running an I2K

Yes, ADIC supports 3592s. We have their Scalar 10K library and are
very happy with it.
