Hi,
TSM volumes can be defined instantly in TSM server for Windows but take
several minutes in TSM for AIX. What could be the reason?
- AIX version is 5.3 with latest patch on both platforms
- volume is defined on a single internal physical disk (no SAN, no RAID)
- windows disk is a 500GB SATA,
It will all be down to the filesystem type. NTFS can create big, mostly
empty files quickly.

Hi,
I needed to do 2 things to get my Database backup working.
1) run set dbrecovery DEVCLASS on my TSM Server
2) Verify that tsmdbmgr.env point to the correct tsmdbmgr.opt file (All files
should be in your Server Instance Directory)
3) Verify that tsmdbmgr.opt is correct configured.

Hi,
This is probably a Andy question, but is it possible to force TSM BA Client to
backup MS SQL System Databases via using VSS? Such Master.mdf, mastlog.ldf?
I'm using TSM BA Client 5.5.0.3 and TSM Client 6.1.3

Yep, had the same problem with iSCSI volumes. Try turning off

Mehdi, Windows can allocate a file in NTFS without having to write data
into it. The Linux/Unix (including AIX) platforms have to write data into a
file in order to create it to the desired size. You can actually see the
progress of the file being created on Unix - cd into the directory in which
Hi,

Avoid that if you can.
You probably can. If you can not, someone else will be able to.
* Normally the node uses the default management class for the domain;
then any MC specified by INCLUDE statements.
* Log onto the client and run q inclexcl. The q inclexcl command
will show you all includes

We have been waiting to upgrade to the latest TSM version, but due to our NDMP
backups and lack of a TOC in Version 6 of TSM we are still at 5.4.3.2 (about to
move to 5.5). Has this been resolved yet in the 6.x releases?
Thanks,

Hello Christian,
I think it will be interesting for you (maybe for somebody else as well) that
