That Eric is me!
Just kidding, a long time ago someone from IBM told me Eric was the name
of the son of one of the first ADSM developers.
Kind regards,

Hi Lindsay,
The files in question are protected by Windows Resource Protection, and
thus are static by nature. They are not expected to change unless you
perform maintenance that causes them to be replaced; and even then, you
would need to reboot to effect the replacement. But having said that, I
We had the same problem with a Windows box when the client was upgraded
from 6.1 to 6.2. The help file from the previous version was left behind
and caused errors. Replaced it with the same version installed by the
newer client (but into a different sub-directory)

Hi,
anybody else having trouble installing the 6.3 x64 client? Getting

There seems to be some additional mitigating factors for this to work in
2-seconds vs 2-hours.
I just redid our SAN storage on another box that has 6.2.3.0 installed and
it is formatting as beforegonna take hours for 300GB

Not here. A co-worker installed it on Win 2008 R2 without issue.
Started the GUI fine, scheduled backup ran last night.

I have installed this on a couple of W2K8R2 servers with no issues. IIRC,
during the install process it does make you update a C++ re-distributable
library.

Hi all,
@Nick Laflamme
You were right. I've changed slot count from 5000 to 2000 and it worked.
BTW, I've also tested with 4399 first ;-) and it didn't work.
@Andrew and Remco
Thank you Andrew for recommending me an alternative solution/product
but, in this case I do agree with Remco.
Thank you
Thanks, I found out.
I am used to unpack it and run the install in a script. But the
install now requires some extra Windows components. Så a manual
install fixed it.

Catching up with the list so apologies for being late on this thread ...
We ran server-to-server migrations from v5.5 to 6.1
When you change the slot count, removing/redefining the library works, but
you can also just halt/restart the TSM library manager instance. If you
can afford the down time for the library manager, this is much less
hassle.
