Hi TSMers!
Our SQL department is testing the TDP 6.4.1 client on their SQL Server 2012
servers. Backup and restore is working fine, but they keep on receiving the
following error:
ANS1532E: Proxy Rejected: Proxy authority has not been granted to this node
Like I said, the restore works, but
you need to grant proxy rights to the fs client for the sql client (or vv) for
VSS based backups to work, legacy backups work without such proxy rights (and
without the error message).

Hi
Eric,
Long shot: do you use the same node name for the SQL backup as for the
reguler OS backup? If not, maybe it detects the hostname of the machine but
the dsm.opt has a different (TDPSQL) node name so it thinks you are trying
to proxy?
Cheers,
Rick

Hi Remco!
Has this changed than? We have been using the (older) TDP client for multiple
years but I never had to grant the BA client for TDP clients!
Kind regards,

Hi Rick!
No, we always use a different nodes for the BA client and the TDP client.

Hi Eric,
No. You should just be able to use legacy style backups.
My guess is that the configuration wizard inadvertently
added some entries causing this.
Check the tdpsql.cfg file.
1. Remove the LOCALDSMAGENTNODE entry (if there is one.)
2. Make sure the BACKUPMETHOD is:

Fair enough. But I think IBM might be the exception here (TSM is another
product that proves it).
Unfortunately, both of these products come at an upfront price that
allows other vendors to undercut them *initially*. Of course, if you
look years later, products with ILM built in from the start
Hi Del!
The tdpsql.cfg file indeed contained the LOCALDSMAGENTNODE entry. As soon as he
removes this line and starts the TDP GUI the wizard starts with the message
that the TDP client has not been configured. And when he configures it through
the wizard the LOCALDSMAGENTNODE line is added
I'm testing the v6.2.5 StorageAgent install.
In the manual for the install it tells you . . .
You must select Tivoli Storage Manager Server languages
Select English (not UTF8)
English is necessary . . to install Tivoli.tsm.server.msg.en_US package

Hi Eric,
Yes... this is APAR IC99653.

For now, you can remove the LOCALDSMAGENTNODE option and
ignore the red X saying it isn't configured.
You can still perform the legacy backup operations.

Hi Del!
Ok... Hm... I don't think our SQL guys will be very charmed by the work around
(ignoring the error)... And I can't blame them. To my opinion these kind of
bugs should not be fixed in a new (maintenance) release but it should be fixed
through an immediately available fix release...
Hi Eric,
I agree. There is a fix for it and it is being tested now.
It is targeted for the 7.1.0.1 interim and will be available
once the testing has completed.
If you decide you need an immediate fix, you can always open
a PMR and ask for a patch.

I've been asked to figure out what we would need in the way of servers
if we were going to use FastBack to back up about 2000 Windows desktop
machines. I have no experience with FastBack at all. We use TSM for our
Enterprise backups of our servers. Are the server side of FastBack
