Do you have java installed on your Debian system?
I had a similar problem on Novell SLES10: at one point the installation process
tried to run java (without any explicit path), which didn't work until I
installed java before installing ISC.

How do you find out what version is on the drive ?
Any tool that executes a SCSI inquiry command should do. I'm sure there is
something on AIX :-)
