going
back to
2000, I'm still not sure. Does anyone know if there is still a
performance problem
running reclamation on a DIRMC random access disk pool?
I came across one post that said it was supposedly fixed, but
recommended using
a file type diskpool to be safe.

to a 'storage class'? We have enough disk for a
night's backup (of incrementals). I'd like to give all the disk
to TSM to manage as little volumes (or whatever the term is) so that
backups are quick (node-network-tsm).

We are supplementing our existing ATL with a 6TB SATA. Clients
pretty much like tape volumes. If there's room at the end,
and your collocation settings allow it, I think it appends to the volume.
Interesting question...I'll have to experiment see.

sata. There won't be much (if any) data in the onsite tapepool which
gets compressed by the drives.

We use client compression so I don't think it would buy us anything.

Any and all comments on drives/ATLs appreciated.

.
ITSM does not give us any decent statistics on this. Useage numbers are
kept for a volume, not for a libvol, which is a serious shortcoming.
This means that these useage and error statistics are lost each time a
tape is reclaimed and returned to the scratch pool.

Anybody heard any rumblings about support for TDP for Informix 9.21 on
SPARC Solaris 8 (64 bit)? My Sun group asked about this but I only see
32 bit support listed on the Tivoli site. Looks like the v5 client
supports 64 bit so maybe there is hope for TDP!
