I've just upgraded an AIX 5.3 box from 5.3.4.0 to the 5.3.4.3 client.
From that moment, the Web-client wouldn't start, with an error message
that it was unable to start dsmagent.
Indeed, dsmagent wouldn't even start from the command line:

My AIX admin has created a script for some of our users on our AIX clients
to run a restore command.
One of the users canceled the restore leaving a pending restartable
restore. This caused the backup to fail last night.
Is there a parm for the Unix client to say restartable restore=no?

(supported or otherwise): it is implicit, and always in effect (for
NQR).
One way to address the issue is to reduce your server RESTOREINTERVAL
value. This is the simplest solution.

The 5.1.7 client for AIX package contains both the 64-bit API and BA client.
The 5.3.0 client package does only contain a 64-bit API client and no 64-bit
BA client. Does anybody know why that is?

Check to see if you have Receive Buffer overflow on the tsm server
machine. Use the command
netstat -v | grep Receive Pool Buffer
The No Receive Pool Buffer Errors: line should be zero. If it is

I am restoring a filesystem to from one aix unix server to another and using
the 5.1 client. The filesystem is named /hci under it is a directory called
/hci/install.3.5.2P but everytime I do a restore it creates two directories
called /hci/install.3.5.2P and /hci/install.3.5.2p as you can see
for the suggestion. 5.1.5.11 of the AIX client does appear to
fix the problem we were having although another one immediately showed
up. After upgrading the client, we got Error -71 sending request.

Where is the best place for starting dsmcad during boot on AIX 4.3.3?
Like /etc/rc.d/rc.local for Linux

I just installed the AIX Client 5.1.5.11 on a new node I am getting the
following error when I try to run dsm:

4 1/2 hours per night going to tape. When we put it on TSM for testing
it was doing 4 gb
I have some cartridges which are outside after a move media.
After an expire inventory, they are empty but not scratch
How do i do (delete volume?...)

I just intalled 2 aix clients as described in the readme file
(aix 4.3, tsm client 4.2.2.1)
all worked fine, but I am not sure, how to start the scheduler correct.
I inserted the following lines to /etc/inittab
tsm::once:/usr/bin/dsmc sched /dev/null 21

Have you thought about using the nohup command?
nohup dsmc sched /dev/null 21 /dev/null
I have a file called tsmsched with the above command.
I the inittab have something like this:
tsm::once:/usr/bin/tsmsched
I can't remember but with AIX 4.3 or 4.2 there was an issue
