Thanks to all who responded to my problem. Defragmenting the database using UNLOADDB/LOADDB seemed to solve my problem. Adjusting some settings in DSMSERV.OPT and installing the newest 4.2 client further improved performance. Thanks for your support! Kind regards Thomas Rupp

Dwight, thanks for your response. Unfortunately I'm not allowed to install anything on our TSM machine. It's a bundle of hard- and software called NSM (network storage manager). Our IBM hardware engineer installed ECA level 16. No newer level seemed to bee available. I will try the server option
