management must rely on DM API - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DMAPI , which
is not supported by NTFS, that's why HSM for Windows is a specific

Ed,
It requires a third-party product for windows. Legato's Diskxtender works
very well on windows clients and is sold through IBM partners as well.
