I guess I will go for the option of sharing the same bus for SSA and SCSI,
except I will use the SCSI adapter with one SCSI chain. The double paired
SCSI adapter I will put in the FC adapter bus.

1. I know I have compression operating on the drives because our average
tape capacity is 1.6 X uncompressed capacity on all three media.
2. Most of what we back up is server data; a little bit is OS, etc, but
not much.

Instead of buying a sixth, buy one big one to consolidate everything. STK
has the L700E with a capactiy of nearly 1400 tapes with 2 frames and the
L5500 with nearly 5000 tapes. IBM's 3584 can go up to 16 frames now (I
think) with just as much capacity. I'm working with all three of these
One huge space saver for us was to create and apply a specific mgmt class for Win2000
Sysobjects. Each sys obj is approx 2-300mb that changes daily, and if you have a
couple hundred Win2k servers it adds up.
We created a mgmt class called SYSTEM_OBJECTS, then put a inclexcl on the server
TSM 5.2 on W2k.
5.2.2 client on Novell 6 cluster.
The 2 clustered Novell servers are attached to SAN and have 5 volumes.
All backups are done through the LAN.
