Shukrie - Not exactly...there is no means of defining your own command and then
TSM has a built-in non-TME event adapter.
In the dsmserv.opt file, set the following options:
TECHOST

TECPORT
-- Set to the TEC reception port, or '0' if your

Yes, that's exactly how it works. Just make sure you list enough volumes
to always have one of them in your library, plus maybe a buffer. I had a 7
day retention on my database backups, plus one day transit back from the

Have the issues with TSAFS and TSM been resolved ?
The general concensus was to NOT use TSAFS and stick with TSA600.
The readme for TSM client 5.2.3 lists TSAFS for Netware 6.5 but not 6.0
Can someone expand on this ?
The reason I ask is that with SP4 (or earlier ?) for Netware 6.0, TSAFS is

Largely - the problem is I am told really in the server.exe rather
than the TSAFS.NLM, and involved many other backup solutions. NW65
SP2 is released and has (allegedly) fixed the problem.
Of course, you could always try simulating the test on your own
workstation or another test machine. I mention this only because I usually
encourage the try it and see method*, as that is usually the most
educational.
(*) Of course, this method should not be used against obviously risky
tests,

Hi,
If you have a backup copy group for a notes server, say Notes
active, which is no longer being backed up, how would the fact that no
more backups are going to be taken affect the expiration of data from the
TSM server. If the version exists is set to say 10 but you have 8 versions
good for you ! :)

One thing that comes to my mind is that are you trying to backup already
backed up from your previous testing?
Could it be that you are trying to backup the non changed file and the TSM
is simply skipping them because at one time it already backed up.
Provided that you are working with
It would help if you could provide actual output of what does and doesn't

the command prompt. Does that work? It would be interesting to see output

Hello all,
We are debating switching our TSM environment from the use of option
files to client option sets and a few questions have been raised:
1) Can we use just one large option set that encompasses all possible
excludes and includes (since our includes are usually directory
specific)?
We use about 5 different cloptsets.
One for macs, one for Win2K, one for Win2K3 servers, one for Windows
desktops, one for AIX servers, etc.
We put in the cloptset things that apply to all Win2K servers, (or macs, or
AIX, etc.)
and put in dsm.opt anything that only applies to that particular

Yep, I agree that in summary more can be done to tune a system by proper
applications design and implementation than any systems geek can ever do to
tune it. (Speaking as an old systems geen and application designer an a
former life.)
consider doing a 'delete volume VOLNAME discarddata=yes' if the volume is
really empty.
I must do this on occasion, but I don't like it. Sometimes it happens if
there had been

I had a recovery log issue recently, but not an architecture limit issue.

Shukie,
You probably don't want to hear this, but this is why you should always have that
500MB log file ready to be allocated, and immediatly deallocate it when the condition
has beed cleared.
I believe that you are stuck with a database restore to point of time of your last DB
backup.
