Hi guys, I dont know if this is a stupid question but I cant find this
anywhere.
Im running low on space and want to split my Tapepool across more than 1
TapeDevice, is this possible?
Cheers

Hi to all
I want to keep a backup version for 1 year. How i must define the
management class below:

Policy Set Name SVCY185_POLICYSET
Mgmt Class Name CY185MGMT
Copy Group Name STANDARD

Hi,
It depends on what you really want? Keep all versions 1 year, versions =
nolimit. See below.

No, I like Linux, but everyone tell me that AIX is better solutions.

We'd rather AIX...more reliable...IBM supports their hardware for
a greater amount of time, usually 10 years.
Was wondering if there was an easy way to
migrate the TSM database / data, other than EXPORT / IMPORT.
Is there anyone that has had negative experience with running
TSM on LINUX? Also,
We have move the TSM database when they were on SSA disks by connecting the SSA
disk to the new server.
We have also moved the TSM database by backing up to a flat file, copying that
to a new server and using:
* dsmserv db restore db devc=ADSMDBBK vol=/var/tsmdbbk/06902830.dbb,
There may be technical issues, but from what I can tell it is a
religious issue for AIX vs Linux. Both are good solutions. Even a well

IMHO, a best fit solution for TSM is probably an AIX solution. But if

I know that the recommendation is to use as many physical volumes as

Here is what I am wondering. It seems that, if I create a 5GB volume

People discuss performance, and striping will certainly give up much

However, the comfort of not losing the database or having to retreat to

The VTLs, are either 'standalone' or 'integrated'.
With a standalone, TSM will maintain control over
the creation of offsite (copypool) tapes. In integrated,
the VTL has the control, via it's software. TSM would
never know of the copypool data. To us, that's just another
point of failure.

Hi Pretorius.
no, you can't directly spread a tape pool across multiple libraries,
if that is what you are asking.
You have two choices,
The first is to split the hierarchy into multiple node - diskpool -
tapepool streams. Data is directed into one or the other streams

What I always wanted to try, but didn't have a system to play with, was to
change the target pool for migrations, each in a different library. One
day nextpool is TAPE1, the next it's TAPE2 - easy enough to update along
with the migration thresholds. On a restore, the data would be split
between
