Its very simple Rich,
use Define DBvol and define dbcopy to add your new volumes
backup the database in full and note the tape number.
use del dbcopy and del dbvol to move the data one volume at a time to the

backup the database, maybe an incremental will do.

We are basically a Windows Environment.
We recently moved to Active Directories and part of the move was to have a

The security settings for our TSM client server directories were also

I have 2 Windows 2003 Enterprise X64 Edition SP1 servers part of a

just restart the service since if I do it doesnt create the dsmsched.log
file and the dsmerror and dsmierror.log files are created but empty.

We had a similar story; you will need to not restore permissions until
all of the data with old permissions has expired. (You already figured
that out. : ) Archives will have a similar effect on permissions.
The only tip I have is to make sure everyone who does restores and

There are a couple of ways of doing this:
1) Create the new raw volumes, the same size as the JFS volumes, mirror each
volume, then break the JFS mirrir leaving the raw volume DB
2) Create the new raw volumes, any size you want. Define the raw volumes to
the database, then delete the old
Hi All,
No doubt some of you have seen these before.
What in your opinion is the cause of these?
Is it always the h/w?

Hello all,
I have a script/query question the query below
lists all the devclass=disk. How would I modify this in
a script to display the Backuppool disk's only using a
script? Right now I am just running the Query command
via the Admin Schedule.
Thanks in advance!
query volume devclass=disk
I don't understand the question in relationship to the script.
As far as displaying volumes only in diskbackuppool: from the Admin
command line interface, issue HELP QUERY VOLUME and you should find that
information there.

Andrew Thanks,
Since I am beginner at using scripts, I was trying to find
another way to display diskbackuppool volumes only
using a sql select statement as oppose to the query
volume command.

Howdy, all.
I'm giving my offsites a little bit of a workout, and am trying to
identify a bottleneck in the remote-volume access path. I'm hoping
someone else has messed with this too.
My offsites live in a machine room 300-some miles from my main site.
This led to a variety of TCP tuning
Timothy have a look at the Technical Guide redbook for TSM 5.1 (

an SQL tutorial that you will find useful. In particular, you'll want to
go after the VOLUMES table.
I tried to attach some other info that, while old, might

Hello Group,
Has anyone successfully ASR restored an IBM bladecenter server blade? I am

Every other year, there's been the TSM colloquium at Oxford.
It was a lot of fun last year, that's for sure.

Kendallville,
I know this has been a topic in the past, but I was curious if anyone
recently has attempted a restore of a file or files that they knew HAD
to be on the TSM server, but simply wouldn't show up with 'dsmc restore'
via -pick, -ina, or -pit. Also I can't see the file in question with 'q

Ah, this is a Win2003 client. Thanks, though. Anyway, never mind all,
though you can still share experiences that may help a silent sufferer.
I come to find out that the user didn't create the folder in question
until this morning (that would have been helpful info). The backup I was

One of my colleagues swears that he has done this sucessfully. He suggests
that DHCP is a prerequisite and not having this may be the source of your
