Hello Everyone,
Just wondering if anybody has any suggestions for a problem I am having.
Have an STK 9310 with 8 9840 drives, being controlled, of course, by
ACSLS(5.3.2). TSM Server is 3.7.3.0 (AIX). We had a problem encountered
that killed our Library as TSM was

Rejean...thanks for the info...how do you load firmware onto the emulex card
after you have de-installed the emulex drivers. You have to
use the lputil utility to do this

We are having great success with the os/400 client and are planning to
migrate all as400 server to tsm for backups...
We are getting approx. 8 MB/s (you have to make sure that the Ethernet card
and the switch port is set at auto-detect or else transfer speeds are
terrible)

question.
What are you using as a client, the old V3 client from IBM/Tivoli or
Robot/SAVE ?

Duh...I must be a little dense.
Is the TSM/400 V4 API supplied by IBM/Tivoli ?
I keep searching the Tivoli/IBM website but keep getting blank pages (yes,
I have done numerous reloads/refreshes).

Anybody out there running the AIX version of the 4.2.2.4 server code. We
are experiencing conflict lock problems on 4.2.2.0 and we have been advised
to go to 4.2.2.4 server level. Has anybody seen any problems with this
level of code?

Hello fellow TSMers,
I have a situation where one aix server is used for a HACMP failover node
for 3 separate servers. Due to company auditors we have to have tsm
passwords expired and re-generated every 35 days. I'm trying to figure out
an easy way to run tsm activities on the HACMP client

Toronto,
We run database restores all the time with a acsls 9310 library on aix
controlled by acsls.
What we do is edit the devconfig file and define the library and one tape
drive as manual devices...
Then when the restore of the database starts it asks that the backup tape be
mounted on the manual drive

This has happened to me in the past, when I incorrectly entered the
dsmsta
setstorageserver command incorrectly.
In my case any traffic from the client node to the tsm server would get
the
same message (not only the storageagent also the ba client)
I had to recycle the tsm server to free up
double check and make sure none of the primary tapes required for the
reclamation are in an unavailable or destroyed status ..

Is the restore and the migration use the same devclass. The restore
operation will only pre-empt a process / session with the same devclass as
it is assigned

I'm going again this year. This will be my second one in a row. I found it
interesting and informative last year as the majority of the presentations

We then have the DBA's imbed a delete backup for anything older than the

Hi All,
I am running TSM server 5.1.0.0, TSM BA Client 5.1.0.1, TDP for Exchange
2.2.0.0 and Exchange 2000. I noticed that when I backup the exchange
database using TDP or BA client I only get approximately 8mb/sec aggregate.
So I created a file of the same size, 1.4gb, and I got 25mb/sec
servers with FC disk I
have seen a little faster than this.

There is a known problem opened with IBM on this... We were told to upgrade
to tsm 4.2.2.4 or higher...this seemed to clean up most but not all these
problems... If you q content on the tape it is empty, yet if you try to do
reclamation or delete it you are informed that there is still data on
We were running tsm 4.2.2.4 on an S7A AIX server. We were putting through
approx 1.7 TB nightly with approx 85%
going to disk storagepool and the remaining going direct to tape. We were
also testing Lan-free with Gresham EDT-Distributape and STK acsls/9840 tape
drives and we were consistently on
no we are still using 32 bit
