Re: procedure for building a command file for TSM on AIX

2006-12-07 Thread Lee, Gary D.
I would suggest another approach to the problem. Dsmc -id=xx -pa=xxx -dataonly query output Where query is a file containing your sql text and output is where you want the output to go. I use this approach and consequently don't have to strip headers or trailers. Hope this helps. Gary Lee

John: Had a similar problem last year. It was fixed in version 5.1.7.2. I would recommend an upgrade to 5.1.9, as this also fixes a security exposure. Good luck. Gary Lee Senior System Programmer Ball State University -Original Message- From: ADSM: Dist Stor Manager [mailto:[EMAIL

Re: Criteria for full dbbackup

2007-01-17 Thread Lee, Gary D.
I seem to remember reading in an old tsm manual that there was a limit on the number of incrementals before a full was forced. It sticks in my mind that that number was twelve or thirteen. If I get a chance, I'll look through my old docs and try to find the reference. Gary Lee Senior System

Tsm, 3592, and z-linux

2007-02-01 Thread Lee, Gary D.
We are looking to move our tsm server v5.2.9.0 from solaris 2.8 to z-linux. I am not well versed in this world. My understanding is that the 3592 drives will be connected via an ibm 2109 fiber switch to a 2319 fiber card in the z800 mainframe. 1. How do I get z-linux to see the fiber card and

Re: When is a new node not a new node....

2007-03-08 Thread Lee, Gary D.
You can rename a node using the rename node command. If you do this, then change the nodename option in your dsm.sys file, all will be well. I tested this yesterday using tsm v5.3 client to a v5.2.9 server both solaris 2.8. 1. reg node gp3 2. set up node gp3 and back up a large directory tree.

Re: Volume History Question

2007-03-14 Thread Lee, Gary D.
Sir: Depends on what you want to have available. I let my volume history grow. This is because I occasionally need to know the history of a particular tape cartridge. After it goes back to scratch, tsm loses its error information. I can use the volhist to see how many times it has cycled

Volume history question

Have tsm server 5.2.4.0 on solaris 8. Client 5.2.0 on a windows 2000 machine. All of a sudden, the backup starts, then times out after around 4 hours when the 75 minute idle timeout has been reached. This began November 15, but the user claims that nothing has changed on the 2000 machine.
