Here's a select command you could run to find out if the amount of data stored
for a client is inline with your policies.
select node_name,sum(physical_mb) as "POOLNAME" from occupancy where
stgpool_name='POOLNAME' group by node_name order by "POOLNAME"
Replace POOLNAME with the appropriate p

We have a number of vendors coming in with their wares and I was
wondering if those who use a VTL might pass on some info. As you all
know when you're in these types of sales pitches you always hear how
great theirs
Michael,
This is correct. Of course, you might already have the Extended Edition . . .
do you use Disaster Recovery Manager (DRM)? If so, then you have Extended
Edition.

I realize you that you do not want to use EtherChannel, my question is why not?
Asking for another couple of adapters and an extra couple of switch ports
should not be a big deal these days.
EtherChannel on AIX will do exactly want you want with single IP address and
the TSM clients will not
Agreed - if you want to load balance across multiple interfaces, then use Link
Aggregation [on the AIX end] and bonding on the network switch end.
Using a non-link aggregated interface and to simply have fail-over then define
one interface as primary and the other as backup.

Hello.
TSM: 5.3.4.1 on AIX 5.3 TL5
TSM BA Client: 5.3.4.0 (also tried a new patch level)
TDP for MSSQL: 5.2.1.6
Having a very odd problem.
I have several TDP for MSSQL clients having a similar issue. A backup starts
at the scheduled hour. All files that are MAXSIZE is found, on the client
Del,
We made the change and the backups have been running successfully.
Thanks for the tip.

All new TS1120-E05 come with encryption capability out of the box. You
can then use the Encryption Key Manager (EKM), which is a free download
from IBM , or use TSM encryption. If you have multiple TSM server
sharing a library, you will need to use EKM for central management of
the keys.

Richard,
Thanks for the reply. Here's all I am seeing in the actlog, however during
this period I am seeing data being transferred from node to the server. I have
tried this with no other jobs (backup or otherwise) running with the same
results; so I don't think its a preemption of this back
Hello,
Running TSM 5.3.4.1 on AIX 5.3 TL5.
TSM BA Client: 5.3.4.0 [AIX 5.3 TL6]
I am backing up a large DB system from this node. What I am seeing is whenever
I try backup a very large file (>50GB) I get the following.
Hello.
Visited the TSM support page which links to Passport Advantage however it is
not available. I called PA support and they stated that it will not be
available for 3-4 days. Can anyone confirm that they are having the same
experience?
Thanks.

I just checked again today and it is still not there. I see the TSM for SAN,
TSM for DB, and TSM for Mail on the list but no TSM!
Any IBM member: when is TSM 6.1 going to be finally available?
Thanks.

William,
If you are happy with the size of the db volumes, simply create new
mirror volumes for your existing volumes. Define the mirrors and once
the mirrors are in sync (q dbvol f=d), delete the original volumes.

Of course, if you just want a point-in-time snapshot of the current data while
continuing to use existing management classes for all data going forward, why
not kick off a backupset, eject the tape when complete, and send it off to the
vault with a copy of the BA client and the OS you're using.
Kelly,
Thanks for sharing. The TCP Chimney problem, we are finding, is messing up a
ton of other things also: TDP for MSSQL, Citrix sessions, printing of large
jobs, etc. Our standard procedure now is to turn it off on (all existing and)
new servers. BTW, thanks to Del Hoobler for pointing
Hello.
Just tried used the TSM Admin Center with Google Chrome. It worked flawlessly.
Found it to be 75%-85% faster than either IE or FireFox. Might want to give
it a shot if you're having response time problems in your environment.
Happy Holidays!!
