What we do is perform a BACKUP of the DISK storage pool, to a tape COPY
pool, before migrating the data to tape. Then we send the COPY pool tapes
offsite.

I will be out of the office starting 10/19/2001 and will not return until

I will respond to your message when I return.
I asked the same question back not too long ago (you can always check the
archives at WWW.ADSM.ORG).
Basic answer was, yes, it spreads the data out across the various STG pool
volumes.
As for the DB, I believe it fills them, one at a time, this speaking from
my experiences when I move DB
of the exclude.list files
stopped
working. I am going through a few hundred servers changing the dsm.opt
files back to specific domains.

The only dumb question is the one that goes unasked.
The command line is your friend.

I use Symantec pcANYWHERE.
The current version allows authentication to lots of different choices
(LDAP, NDS, Active Directory, pcANYWHERE) and you can do things like
transfer the log files to your workstation.
