It sounds like you are not sure as to what is happening with the restore. You mention that there is activity with the TSM DB. I would recommend giving it another go. Set a server and client trace. Set your maxtrace size to something manageable. Then look and see if the client trace grows.

This does not answer why you are getting the results that you are however, you could try doing a delete vol 499068 discarddata=yes. But only if you are sure that the volume has no valid data on it. I would also check back in the activity log to see other references to this tape and what happened

Is there still no way to enter a command in that will cancel a process immediately. For years we have had to put up with this problem. There are cases where we have seen reclamations, backups, or archives where the process is obviously stalled and we can't kill the process until the current item
