[AFMUG] OT: Universal Remotes

2019-12-15 Thread Nate Burke
I'm still using a PC to do a lot of the video on my home theater setup. My favorite universal remote ever, the Gyration, which could do the whole home theater, plus was a wireless Gyro mouse, has been discontinued for years. On the 3rd party refurb market, they're going for $130+. I think I

Well, she never revealed her source, and by process of elimination they took a stab that it was the FBI. . So they had to fabricate that part of the story, but what the newspaper published is a fact in evidence, so they didn’t , couldn’t really, hype that. An article quotes people who knew

I've never seen specific data available. At my #dayjob we have about 200 devices in our management system. Of those, about 170 are IOS, 30ish are android. We had also seen about half of the trouble calls being android. Normally with the phone trying to suddenly do some sort battery saver and

It's NDA protected but we buy from Calix direct. This was a price we got with negotiation. I know people paying less and people paying more. It comes down to volume. We committed to purchasing 1,200 over time to get this price. Before I think we were paying $105. On Sun, Dec 15, 2019, 1:34 PM

We have sold quite a few of them and currelty have stock on them. They are a tri-band radio system, so meshing is fairly easy plus no slowdown on the repeater nodes. 99% of them work quite well with one, if you need another just add it and it has an auto connect process as long as you don't

I'm just a big proponent of ISP's having managed routers to control the customer experience. Even if it's not a mesh system, it's still helpful when you control firmware updates, can scan for interference, check for low signal devices, etc. Then only if the home needs it, you can add a mesh

Not really asking how it compares to Calix, but if anyone has tried it. Mesh systems are appropriate for a small subset of our demographic, except the people who misuse them thinking it will get Internet out to their metal shop building 1000 feet away. But there’s the occasional custom

The audience costs about $160 right now when you get the Calix 844e for much cheaper than that close to $100. Mesh is even less and it's easy for the customer to pair. Plus it's all managed by you in a single management system. 50 cents per month per router. All these other systems people are

I totally missed the existence of this product and apparently the US version is actually shipping. Has anyone tried them out? Typical of mesh systems, it doesn't have a full complement of Ethernet ports, but 2 is better than 1 like some of the mesh products out there. It's less expensive
