If I remember correctly, latency is a bit lower on the 5X (although that
may have changed with newer firmware... I haven't checked it recently), and
it's always seemed to me that the 5x handles interference a bit better than
the 5xHD, but I could be wrong about that, since I've never actually done
Mr Hoppes, I know the XD is more spectruly efficient, power efficient, etc.
But Mr Howard said the the older 5X was better in some ways the the XD and
I am curious as to what aspects he is talking about.

How is a AF5X better than the AF5XHD? I'm curious as to what ways you
mention. So far the only way i have found is the SNMP OID's are totally
screwed up and not functioning in the HD version.

I agree with you...I have about 10 spare radios in boxes for some of my key
clients. This request is for a local WISP who hired my services once in a
while.

I've got a used set in the warehouse if you need them. Might need to use the
"name your price" tool.

Yeah, well, that's why you keep old radios around when you replace them
with other stuff... or you can always just buy some used ones to keep as
spares. These things are by no means hard to find at this point.

Because of a radio failure. Two tower climbs is much more expensive and time
consuming than just swapping a radio.

Ehh... the AirFiber 5x is a good radio. If it's a new link, or replacing
both ends, then the Airfiber 5xHD is generally a pretty good replacement.
The HD is better than the old 5x in some ways, and a bit worse in other
ways, but they're both good radios.

I think Mike (and myself) assumed that you were talking about the AF5
because Sean posted a picture of an Airfiber5 (not X).
But yeah, I assume they just quit production of the AF5x because sales
dropped down to nothing when the HD came out.
But that does make me curious... why would you prefer t
The antenna structure allows for a low-cost full duplex system. If you
don't need the sub-ms latency and full-duplex capacity, it is not the radio
for you.
That said, AF5/AF5U is a current product; the AF5X was EOLed in favor of
the AF5XHD.

Airfiber5 - garbage gain.
I was taking about AF5x. Maybe I missed the X?

Ubiquiti really needs to realize they screwed the pooch by stopping production
on that product.

I've got a handful of used ones in storage. Been wanting to sell them,
just haven't had time. Give me a ring/email offlist if you need one.
